Satterfield not honoring scholarship offers to some of Petrino's recruits

It’s pretty damn rotten for an AD and coach to screw over a commit like this. The dude worked hard to enroll early and was “told” (who knows if it’s true) by the AD that scholarship commitments would be honored. If Satterfield then pulled the guys committment, I’d be ööööing pissed too. That’s not the way it should be handled at all. If it happened at Tech, I’d raise holy hell.

It’s okay to tell the guy that he doesn’t fit your system and that it’s perfectly okay to look elsewhere, but you need to honor that commitment. If the offer was submitted and he did nothing wrong to involve it being revoked, it should be good as gold.

This makes me glad we didn’t pursue Satterfield.

Do you think that CGC will honor all of our current commits?
I'll have to find it again but I saw it posted somewhere that we will honor all of our current offers, but if coach doesn't believe the player is a fit for what we need, he will tell them and advise them to make the decision that they see best, but if they still decide to come, the scholarship offer will not be pulled.

I sure hope so, doesn't look like he's told any of the current 16 otherwise, yet.

How often do we hear, "you commit to the school, not the coach"? The school should honor the commitment.

I know this stuff happens, but pretty weak for Satterfield to have a staffer call those guys instead of doing it himself. I mean, I would prefer they just honor them, but that should be a bare minimum.

One of the guys whose offer was pulled had an offer from us, a 6'3" 305 DT.

He's from Miami, has interest in them, and was previously committed to them last year before switching to UL. He'll likely switch back to Miami, assuming they still offer him.

Seems likely if his spot is still there, but worth a look if not.
