New offers from CGC

nice job on the stats. strange to see how Gailey could have the 38th ranked class in 2003, which had 2 ****, 13 ***, 6 ***, and an average star rating of 2.81. And yet Paul had the 43rd ranked class in 2010 with 4 ****, 15 ***, 0 ** and an average star rating of 3.21.

Goes to show things just aren't apples to oranges even over a relatively short time period.

I could be wrong, but do they grade classes based purely on overall star ratings? I'm pretty sure it has a LOT to do with how many recruits you're bringing in as well. Therefore smaller classes, say less than 20 recruits, will always rank lower than large classes with similar average star counts, despite how much talent may indeed be in that class. There is something to be said about signing larger classes and depth, so I guess it's not completely without merit. But that noted, with Paul seeming extremely averse to signing full classes, his recruiting never had a chance to make much of a fanfare before you even begin looking at stars.

I've heard 3-stars are have been handed out much more liberally over the years. Maybe one of you recruiting gurus can confirm or dispute that.

yes but Chan's 03 class had 21 recruits and Paul's 2010 class had 19. Not enough of a difference.

I did this a week or two ago:

Here, finally some discussion that is actually worthy to be in a thread titled "new offers".

The rest of you I'm suggesting a 3 day ban for your insolence.

I like jumbo athletes - come on down big Joseph!!

I don't know that more 3 stars are being given out specifically, but I guarantee as the business of covering recruiting hype has grown exponentially, the pool of prospects being adequately evaluated has become much deeper.

I agree with you - there are guys that are my favorite players that didn't get drafted. I was only trying to address the "left the cupboard bare" comments from the OP who tried to use NFL talent as a measure of recruiting capability. Or, for anyone on these boards trying to say that Chan was some awesome recruiter and Johnson sucked. They were both mediocre, ultimately.

My recollection is that CCG recruited a lot more guys that went on to be 1st- and 2nd-team All-ACC.

Updated: CCG-recruited players and their post-season honors:

1st Team: 22 (15 unique players)
2nd Team: 11 (9 unique players)
Honorable Mentions: 7 (7 unique players)

A total of 25 unique players recruited by CCG made the All-ACC team in some form (1st, 2nd, or HM). I haven't run the numbers on CPJ, but I imagine it's a lot lower.

Don't worry, no one will take the time to discuss actual offers from Geoff Collins. Instead, they'll argue with statistics and spreadsheets over past classes and rankings that have no relevance today... in a thread that has nothing to do with past rankings.

Getting extremely tired of StinGTalk'ers lately.

I've wanted to do a comparison between the offer sheetskmostly breakdown of # of P5 offers and other criteria) between CPJ and CCG recruits, but the information is not very complete and I'm kinda too lazy to do it.

Tell me I'm wrong... every ööööing thread, no matter the title, is derailed by mom jokes, CPJ vs CGC, recruiting, or academics. Not to mention there are 5 ööööing threads about Justin Fields.

To be fair I was there first.

you're wrong, but you're also whining, which is worse.
