I certainly understand, given the circumstances, that we did as well as or a little better than expected this year. Saw this morning where ESPN ranked our class 13th in the ACC and saw somewhere else it was number 50 nationally, about normal for us. So, why all the excitement?

We would have probably been 75 nationally if not for CGC closing on some big recruits late.

I believe we finished in the 40’s. Don’t think it factors in the 4 star WR transfer, either.

When is the last time we landed the top QB and top RB in the state of GA?

For a transition year, we did really well.

I saw the same thing and it's a load of crap. They had Wesley Walker listed as our top recruit. Nothing against him and he is a high 3* CB but we have higher rated guys in the class. I read somewhere too that all ESPN's info and graphics only included the early signing period and were not updated for the remainder of the class.

It doesn't factor in him nor the 2 grad transers.

Don't pay attention to ESPN. Rivals has us 42nd nationally and 8th in the ACC (6th if you go by average star rating, which is a better measure, IMO).

Did fantastic for a coaching transition year. Did you see Loserville's class? CGC had a brief window of time and he didn't even have a staff the first month. You gotta look at the big picture.

ESPN is just SEC homer horse****. Fortunately, you've found the right place for unbiased analysis of college football.

Get on the train before you get left in the station. No room for this type of thinking where we are going... Choo Choo!!!

Think we moved up 7 or 8 spots after yesterday. Would have probably done something similar with CPJ. I’m bought in, but don’t keep taking dumps on the last staff after CGC did essentially what CPJ has done pretty consistently (sign a class in the 40s with a surprise pickup late).

2020 will be the real test for CGC having the whole cycle. All signs are pointing to a much better class than we’re used to getting. Hoping we can get the ball rolling soon with the first commit.

I think all the excitement is because, after a long time, there is excitement.

1) ESPN is useless for recruiting info.

2) This class is pretty solid, but honestly not any better than the last two.

3) 2020 is when I think we're going to see a real jump in recruiting. As long as we're not so terrible this year as to destroy any positive momentum, I think we'll see the 2nd best class since the turn of the century.

From a perception-vs-reality standpoint, I feel significantly more upbeat about this recruiting class. This is, I am sure, due in large part to all the hype created by CGC. But I'm digging it.

Rivals has us at 43 in the ACC they rank us 8th and when they re rank us by quality of recuits we are 6th in the ACC
247 has us at 51 and in the ACC they rank us at 9th
ESPN has us at 60..

USA Today has a composite that represents an average of the rankings by the three major recruiting services: 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. they have Georgia Tech at 49 & 8th in the ACC.

To answer cbee question why is everyone is excited... The new coaching staff has flipped a 4 star RB who was not looking at Georgia Tech until we changed coaches and he is the highest rated RB to sign with Georgia Tech since Jon Dwyer. Also the new Coaching staff has brought in a few TE and a 4 star WR who is transfering from Miami...

This was done in the last 90 days and with a limited staff.... This gives the fan base hope that with a full year we will be able to recruit even better.

Look, I was a fan of Paul for the majority of his time here, but that's just not true. He always had a recruit or two defect on or right before signing day and generally replaced them with a kid with little to no offers. The only hat ceremony he ever won was for Miles Autry who never stepped foot on campus. If you can't see that what CGC has done recruiting-wise is well above what CPJ did, you are blind. And that's not ööööting on CPJ, its stating the facts.

Sorry that I am not giddy over a recruiting class ranked 45 - 50 in national rankings and 8 - 13 in the ACC. No criticism of the new staff. As stated, given the circumstances, think they did well. Just strange to see guys like you act like a teenage school girl in puppy love.

Next year is when recruiting goes biGTime. CGC honored CPJ’s class and cobbled together a few missing pieces and some big wins in his first two months. Overall, a great showing.
