Feelings are facts?Perception is reality.

No wonder our rushing offense was always so bad.How about not meeting as full unit...ever?
Seeing DBs in man press is gonna be amazing. Don't care that we'll get toasted at times. I can't stand watching soft corners over and over.Well, Swilling blows a hole in the idea that an option defense doesn’t have an effect on the defense.

I'd also rather see us get toasted occasionaly rather than continuously giving up 6 yards on 3rd and 5 playing 8yd cushions.Seeing DBs in man press is gonna be amazing. Don't care that we'll get toasted at times. I can't stand watching soft corners over and over.
Maybe it's because I live in Knoxville and have watched the Vols parade in 4 coaches since Fulmer was forced out in 2008...all of which were heralded as the great new savior, all of which were met with great excitement, all of which were going to fix the lack of talent left behind by the previous guy. Yeah...it hasn't quite worked out that way for them.I mean, you can do that. But ultimately, wouldn't it be more fun to buy in 100 percent now and enjoy it? I mean, if this doesn't work out, I don't see how tempering my excitement in the beginning will make me feel better. Nah, gimme the juice.
I am curious as to how much of that is a direct result of the type offense under CPJ and how much is just a result of the change in D scheme / emphasis unde CGC. Certainly, CPJ would have loved a stout D, but he obviously focused on and centered the team around his system. Did we not play press coverage under CPJ due to his O, i.e general gameplan? Or, was it just the type DCs that we hired with their schemes? Honest questions.Well, Swilling blows a hole in the idea that an option defense doesn’t have an effect on the defense.

Wasn't that part of our bend-then-break defensive philosophy?I'd also rather see us get toasted occasionaly rather than continuously giving up 6 yards on 3rd and 5 playing 8yd cushions.
Really good post. Let's embrace the positive changes and not try to constantly compare to the old regime, because that will never go well.True. Different is not better and it does get annoying hearing as if we were some cellar dwellers of the ACC.
We can only judge what’s going on now, so i disagree with you that’s its too premature to say something is better. At no point in recruiting in the past 11yrs, i believe we’ve been in the top 25 at any point. Also, hearing recruits, who have been on campus prior and coming back, saying “The environment is better! All the coaches are interacting with us instead of just passing by without speaking”. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. The “school doesn’t recruit itself.” So to see the early commits we have with factory level offers in the spring is way ahead of schedule for us.
The branding and transparency of the program is a 1000x better. You actually see the gains being made in the offseason and why there is a buzz around the program. We’re are not just more welcoming to recruits and former players, we are now more welcoming to the casual fan and the rest of the CFB.
I never met any Vol fan who was EVER sold on Dooley. Vince Dooley wasn't even that great of a coach, either. His only MNC was due to a freakish athlete at RB.Maybe it's because I live in Knoxville and have watched the Vols parade in 4 coaches since Fulmer was forced out in 2008...all of which were heralded as the great new savior, all of which were met with great excitement, all of which were going to fix the lack of talent left behind by the previous guy. Was it good for every single game?No wonder our rushing offense was always so bad.
Actually. It’s going to go very well.Really good post. Let's embrace the positive changes and not try to constantly compare to the old regime, because that will never go well.
You are correctI am curious as to how much of that is a direct result of the type offense under CPJ and how much is just a result of the change in D scheme / emphasis unde CGC. It seems to me that (a) players and recruits will be good with our new schemes because they translate to NFL (helps recruiting) and (b) as a result of running these schemes from top-to-bottom and more similar to what other teams run, it seems our scout teams, etc. ought to be better giving the overall performance a bump. You don't have scout O players learning the 3O on one side and then having to play a totally foreign scheme while getting the D ready.
Well, sewak was not the one that, it appears, gave himself a “no fire” contract clause for life. How about not meeting as full unit...ever?
MS was much better at the XnOs + theoretical concepts of the 3O than probably anyone. But technique wise, well let’s just say “80/20, 80/20” isn’t a technique.Well, sewak was not the one that, it appears, gave himself a “no fire” contract clause for life.
Remember that one play in that one game where we didn't gain a single yard? What a failure CPJ's offense is! TBH it seems that you've got Orange Man Bad Syndrome for the guy that did you wrong at GT.Was it good for every single game?
I mean define good. Was it good for every single game?
Your mistake is thinking that it’s personal. It’s not. PJ gave me a great opportunity to advance my life by giving me a scholarship to one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. Go read my statement I put out in the AJC way back when. I answered your facetious response with one of my own.Remember that one play in that one game where we didn't gain a single yard?
