I was listening to Finebaum yesterday (I know, I know) and he briefly mentioned Collins as a potential Saban replacement at Alabama along with Kirby and Pruitt. Obviously, that's a long shot, but the fact that he's even in that conversation is pretty astounding.

I think there is only one coach Bama would go after and there is no limit to how much they would be willing to offer to get Dabo. I wouldn't be surprised to see a $150M+ 10 year contract offer. I know Dabo absolutely loves Clemson but every man has his price plus he played for Bama.

I guess I don't think it is crazy talk but it is for sure premature. He would have to be near great at GT so that is the silver lining. Multiple 10 win seasons and with no really bad seasons. Anything else and he would not be good enough for Bama fans. They will throw a lot of money at Dabo and Kirby first. IMO he would be stupid to leave for Bama; impossible task to replace Saban. You want to be the 2nd coach after Saban, not the first.

Now, why it isn't crazy: Collins focus on recruiting is something Bama loves; he is or will be the right age; connection to the program and the SEC and I assume neither Kirby or Dabo will take the job.

I have heard this line of thought before; not sure where. It's not crazy. He has experience under Saban, extensive recruiting experience in the Southeast. That said, he'd probably need to have a few 10 win seasons and ACC championships under his belt here before he would be at the top of their list. I take it as a compliment.

If Collins isn't successful at Tech, there's no way Bama would want him.

Collins forte appears at this point to be recruiting and marketing. The two areas Alabama has covered just by being Bama are recruiting and marketing. It isn't like either of those two areas took off when Collins got there or withered when he left. I am saying all that to say I don't think Collins would be a great fit at Bama unless he proves to be a great system/program coach.

I honestly think money is not really an issue. I think he is having the time of his life in Atlanta and he genuinely seems humble about the whole experience thus far in.
