At least we are still in the game. Under the past regime we would have moved on due to his taking trips to the other schools.

Look at the end of 2019

got Jamious from my NC state

ahmarean brown had early offer from bama, chose us over Maryland, Iowa state and Minnesota

sylvain yondjouen committed to and visited Arizona

stole Michael Lockhart from miss st and North Carolina

and took another kid from Arkansas OLB

Etc etc
and we flipped Graham (who had a Bama offer) from Va Tech, got Wesley Walker (who had LSU and Notre Dame offers), flipped Jordan Huff from Michigan State, flipped Kenan Johnson from UNC, got Chimedza (who had FSU and Georgia offers), Charlie Thomas (who had an Auburn offer and Miami was also said to be hot after) ... those are just off the top of my head. Plus smaller scale wins, like flipping Jerry Howard from ECU. And he's pretty good.
oh, and that was the previous staff doing that work too.
Collins has done ok so far. but don't dismiss what the previous staff had done, especially in the last two full recruiting cycles and in the class CGC and gang took over

I am fairly certain that all those players you mention were poached from Elon because I have been told repeatedly on here that no one on our current roster is FBS level talent.

Our need at RB isn't that big right now. Gibbs would be a great player for us, but our needs on the lines are much bigger, so we can afford to lose gib s much more than other positions.
Disagree. Gibbs’s film is electric. The kind of guy that can mask deficiencies on an OL. After rivals does their re-rating he probably ends up our highest rated RB (247 composite) since they started rating them. I don’t see much difference between his film and the top RBs in the country. If any.

It honestly wouldn’t be shocking to me if he somehow ended up a 5*. He won’t, but it wouldn’t be ridiculous. He’s hunting down all-time season records in GA. A state known for producing stud RBs. He’s being chased by Bama/OSU and UGA is sniffing around, three programs that have like a third of the starting RBs in the NFL right now.

Frankly he puts Griffin’s film to shame. And people lost their minds when he committed/signed.

A whole lot of “ifs” here. Bottom line, we need a class in the 20’s or low 30’s to validate what we have been told about GC. All the speculation fills the time in a terrible season but nothing really matters until signing day comes.

if we got a class ranked 20, but it was rb, wr, dbs', qb, lbs, no dl, no ol; it wouldn't validate us and we wouldn't improve.

this class is strong because of 6 OL, maybe 7. Rumor is a few DT's coming too. I could care less if all the skill positions defected. As you can see on our current team, we have skilled players far from the ball. Nothing near it. My point is, often by the nature of taking alot of linemen, they are naturally ranked lower and harder to project. So I look at numbers being recruited. This and should be a strong class for both lines (hopefully), but definitely the OL. The OL has good prospects too.

So as you say lets see what happens come december. But for me this class really has 2-3 main purposes. OL. DL. LB.

Fake news. No way CPJ would’ve moved on with a top back like this.

I'm not trying to bash the previous staff but if you're going to start listing folks, make sure you get all your facts straight.

We flipped Graham because he wanted to play QB. I'm almost positive VPI was recruiting him as an Athlete, with no guarantee of playing QB.
Kenan Johnson was recruited by the old staff, but he didn't decommit from UNC and commit here until after CGC was hired. If you want to see our recruiting stats I posted them in another thread. But is the gist of it:

Our 2019 team talent rating average is 0.8464
Take away the guys CGC recruited and transfers and that number is 0.8403
CGC's 2019 recruits and transfers average 0.8734 (2 lowest rated are grad transfers that were extreme needs: OL and TE)
CGC's 2020 commits to date average is 0.8634 with a few high 3* and 4* players on our radar.

I have our OL/DL stats in another thread and those stats are even more damning.

Not sure what your point is with this post. CPJ retired a month before the early signing period in 2019. I think it is fair to give CGC a mulligan for 2019; so why are you using 2019 for a baseline?

These numbers are hysterical to me. Four decimal points of accuracy based on some random analyst's subjective analysis? How do we know this recruiting class isn't a .87456423549?

Yep, and then you'll be told not to pay attention to how many stars the recruits are given if there is a dearth of 4&5 stars in the recruiting class.

We should have an excellent sales pitch for some highly regarded DT's this year; but then I thought RB's would be lining up to come to GT after we hired CPJ.

Not sure how you are missing the point to be honest. The argument was that CPJ flipped and brought in as much "talent" as CGC is bringing in. Two of those that were used as examples, one was flipped to here because of the position we were guaranteeing, the other was not a CPJ flip. I added in the ratings that I posted in another thread to show the difference in prior recruiting and current. The number I put for CGC was not the entire 2019 recruiting class... it was only the guys he brought in. GCG's number was also watered down by signing 2 grad transfers (0.82 OL and 0.80 TE) because those were positions of dire need and those were the best guys available to get that could play immediately. The guys he brought in averaged 0.87 and the entire team average here was 0.84. Apparently you don't follow recruiting because that is a big difference. His 2020 class average right now is 0.86 and it's expected to get higher. We should be able to give CGC a mulligan as you say for 2019 but he didn't need one because he came in and immediately made a major impact.

Why are they hysterical? Apparently you don't follow recruiting either. These numbers are how they are rated on the 247 composite. It's not "some random analyst's subjective analysis." It's the composite score of 247, Rivals, ESPN and independent analysts. But oh I forgot none of those guys know anything.

“I’m committed to Tech, but I’m taking visits right now,” said Jahmyr (pronounced Juh-Meer). “I’m going to Bama this week, then LSU, Ohio State and Florida.”

“I’m very excited to be hearing from Bama,” he said. “If they come after me hard, I’d say there’s a strong chance of them being who I choose.”
:lol2: This guy should be writing wedding vows. "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you, unless someone more attractive is interested...?"

I reacted the same way, to me at least it sounded like he's publicly calling us a placeholder
I don't think anyone ever taught him what the word "committed" means. Or maybe that's how recruiting is these days. But it seems weird to be "committed" to a school and openly say you'd go elsewhere. I liked CPJ's policy of rescinding offers if they visited elsewhere while committed, but probably not the right move in today's world.

It's not really necessary with the early signing day telling you where a guy stands if he doesn't sign

it was a stupid move with guys he still had a chance with.

that's why he only really did it to save face when someone was as good as gone. you can't break up with me, I'm breaking up with you.
