2020 Recruiting

Say what you want about Collins, but at least he cares about his players and doesn’t stupidly expose them to season and possibly career ending injuries like Saban playing a hurt Tua in a blowout game.

How? Can’t win more than 15.
Well, people would naturally begin to become curious if this powerhouse Tech team that can't be controlled by NCAA competition, could perhaps beat the Bengals. And then we would do that.

Anyone have thoughts on PWOs? It seems like we are offering a lot more of those than we did in the past and are being strategic about it. Seem to be making offers to players from large schools that have a good football program and/or players that have connections to VIP recruits.

So is it different than in the past? Does everyone think it is a good idea?

Offering PWO is not in any way a bad thing. There are lots of good college players that started as a walk on. Lay and Brooks are contributing at this level.

I don’t think this is new. The Gibbs/PWO situation has just become well known after filtering through the boards. And CPJ preferred giving kickers schollies to try to attract better talent there (to mixed results).

We also offered a couple from Plant (the new QB is from there) and the TE from Yates' school, Milton.

The TE is pretty good and Milton seems like it should be in GT's wheelhouse for recruiting.

BTW, just to be clear, I think this is a great thing but also thought I could be missing some of the nuance.

I wondered if we were able to expand the number because Collins places an importance on it and more funding is available.

A lot of movement on the transfer portal lately.

There are no less than three 4-star QB's in the portal from either FL or TX (where we have inroads) who were in either the 2018 or 2019 class and have several years left. Eight 4-stars total.
