And speaking of UGAg recruits... I noticed a trend the last couple of years with Kirby... 2019 class had 24, only 6 from the state of GA. 2020 has 14 so far with only 4 in-state guys. I know he's bringing in elite talent, but let that place keep becoming a mish-mash of guys from all over the country, and we'll start having much better in-roads with all the in-state schools.

Agreed, and I could see other benefits including attracting more sidewalk fans to GT. If they only take 5-6 a year they are largely abandoning the 404, which makes our takeover that much easier and more complete.

The 404 push is make-or-break long term for GT.

Wow, that's crazy. They have nearly as many recruits from TX as GA.

I would have assumed their classes were 50%+ from GA just about every year.

They have been more like 65-70% GA kids until recently.

Yeah, after your post I went and looked at 2015-2018. Bizarre to see them landing so few local kids now.

We may end up with more GA top 50 recruits this year than them.

At the very least, there is no way they should be ahead of Oregon, who beat the former # 5 in convincing fashion. But you know the reason. ($EC)
Oregon really should have been a playoff team this year. That Auburn game that they completely dominated despite losing in early September will haunt them. Think they had 3 trips inside the 10 where they failed to score - one of which was a fumble returned for a TD.

I agree but they did look awful against ASU. I kept on thinking they were going to start playing better but they just couldn't put it together that night.

Bama is better, slam dunk better with Tua. Blew everyone out except close losses to two top teams. Didn't have the quality wins on the resume that UGA did. I think it's more Bama underrated than anything.

Perhaps that might be because Bama doesn't have a win against a ranked team?

I think Bama is better, but you can argue that on paper the dwags have a better resume. Their losses are worse, but they have a few wins over teams that finished fairly high in the rankings. Alabama doesn't have any.

I know it's easy to say that the Dwags got blown out by LSU and lost to a bad SC team, but let's remember that heading into conference championship week in 2014, there was a far-fetched possibility we could make the playoff with a win vs. FSU...and we had two pretty bad losses that year.
Bama's SOS recently has been hurt by the downfall of Tennessee football, which is their permanent crossover opponent. They also ended up with a lousy Duke team as their opponent in the Kickoff Classic. That being said, this may be the year Saban learns he needs to schedule better out-of-conference opponents than Western Carolina and Southern Miss.

Unfortunately they could lose both of their entire starting units and be in the preseason top 4.

It will be interesting to see how many of their juniors/seniors with NFL aspirations participate in the Citrus Bowl. They haven't faced early defections because they were always in the CFP.

Brilliant troll of the dwags by ESPN writer David Hale....

Georgia vs. Baylor
Jan. 1, 8:45 p.m., ESPN/ESPN App
Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans

Both teams entered the final Saturday of the season with a shot at the playoff, which tells you all you need to know about the quality of this game. But remember, if Georgia doesn't win, it was because the game wasn't really important.
