n an interview with KVOI-AM in Tucson, Arizona, Robbins said he is worried about intercollegiate sports getting back to normal after the cornovirus. "I'm really concerned about whether we're going to be playing football in the fall," Robbins told the radio station. "My sense, right now, I just don't see that happening." "We're waiting to see what the NCAA does, what the Pac-12 does," Robbins said. "As much as I want it, you know, it just seems as though if we do play any football in the fall, it's going to be delayed because I've heard nothing and we're headed to May 1. My hope is we're going to get some clarity on this very soon, but it seems unlikely to me. I'd love to see it happen, but we're waiting every day to get some guidance."

Robbins said the scenario he is hearing the most is that fall and winter sports, including men's and women's basketball, would all be played in 2021.

"What I've been hearing more of is that maybe doing something combining both basketball and football for the spring, so January-February 2021, and try to play both of them," Robbins said. "There will be all kind of implications for television viewing and confusion. I don't know. We just don't have any answers right now."

"I did, however, say that the current thinking is that it's likely that fall sports will be canceled," Katsouleas said. "This was not based on any inside knowledge or discussions on the subject and was nothing more than speculation. No decisions have been made about fall sports and when they are made, we will look to the NCAA and our conference to take the lead on those choices."

Robbins conceded that his opinions about delaying fall sports or pushing them back to the spring were his "personal reading of the tea leaves."

"It's going to be very difficult to start the [football] schedule as it currently exists," Robbins said.

I hope this wimp has no input into the decision.

Tough decision... it takes a couple months to get players back into shape and ready to play. If you rush it you're gonna see a lot of injuries and sloppy play. Then if they start to test positive you're essentially going to see the rest of the season canceled like the NBA did. What is the alternative? Wait it out and play next spring? Good luck playing in an outdoor stadium in Minnesota in February. The ground doesn't even thaw there until late April. Then you've got to factor in the remainder of the season + bowl season. You're essentially going to see one season bleed straight into the next season as one wraps up in June/July and the next one picks up in August. That's a brutal stretch and a lot to ask for kids that aren't even getting paid. Do you go conference only? Sucks to be FCS or independent. That also means no clean, old-fashioned hate. It's a real mess to figure out.

I see no way any college athletics go forward this fall. I am now in doubt we may be looking at most sports shutting down for years. Because the chances of a vaccine is almost hopeless & litigation is around every corner I think sports in this country may be in serious trouble. Healthy people don't seem to be affected by this virus but we can't take a chance if one person may die. I do believe some stuff like Nascar, golf, & UFC will make a go. How long without crowd participation they will last is anyone's guess.

I wish I was wrong but with the threat of litigation everywhere I think all amatuer sports are dead. Get ready for the New Normal. Now in countries ruled by dictators & no threat of litigation sports will comeback. Just stay in the house and wait for instructions.

The biggest problem with all this mindless speculation is that coronavirus is not going to just disappear if we wait longer. Even a vaccine or antiviral is probably not going to be 100% effective, and lots of people will choose not to get it anyway. COVID-19, or the next virus that comes along, will forever be creating the various degrees of danger that have threatened mankind since the beginning of time. Older people with chronic medical conditions or living in assisted living facilities shouldn't be going to stadiums regardless of this current epidemic or the next one. The folks who are physically able to navigate the steps and isles of BDS are going to be very low risk, and the ones who aren't should be watching it on TV.

I'm a ramblin wreck from Georgia Tech and a socially distant engineer.
A 6 foot distant, mask wearing, hand washing, elbow sneezing, stay at home engineer.
Like all the jolly good fellows, I look out my windows clear.
I stay in the house and I don't come out, I'm a hell of an engineer.

I absolutely agree. It's time to abandon the old ways and adapt to the new. Football was archaic and violent. Will we get refunds on our season tickets?

I wish we had @OldGold1968's attitude when it came to scheduling noon games in August/September. We put thousands of older fans at risk of heat stroke and dehydration just for what? An afternoon? We can do better.

Mods, please delete the sports forums.

If it saves just one life shouldn't we stay at home forever. No more beauty salon, hair cuts, movies, churches, sports, weddings, or funerals. Just stay in your home people, it saves lives. Do whatever the medicine man tells you and nothing more.

That part of the fan base that is wondering what Bobby Dodd would do in this situation?

Well, given his cancellation of a game at aTm that turned out to be a beautiful day, we know curry would push everything back to 2025.

Given the age of our fan base the Rona would be licking it’s chops at a Bobby Dodd crowd.
Sanford Stadium won’t have that problem, cuz Lysol shots will be for sale at their concession stands.
