Artificial Turf Returns?

I'm opposed. We have a beautiful field. However much it costs to maintain it, we should spend it.

I think maintenance cost is only a small part. It's the potential to do other events that is the gold mine we are after here. Totally understand not liking it from an aesthetics/tradition standpoint, but I think it's the right move.

That would be just one of many factors that would make us more/less attractive to concert promoters. It's certainly not the 'one factor' that's been holding us back. And how many concerts are we going to get anyhow? And how many of them take place during the season anyhow? And and and...

If someone's got some hard data to support it, I'm open to being convinced otherwise. But my strong suspicion is that this was not necessary but was motivated in large part by the constant need to be seen to be doing something. "If you're not going forward you're going backward" and similar such business-school maxims that end up putting thumbs on the scale of business decisions.

We have no choice on the Thursday and Friday games.
I have no idea what other changes could be bothering you. I wasn't thrilled about our entrance last season with the Wreck entering the field 45 seconds before the team, but I doubt that was a TS decision.
Security seemed to be friendlier last season. I had several run-ins with security in prior years, even had Mike Castle pay us an in stadium visit at one point to smooth things over.

Probably too many changes, incidental to most, to mention. My first non-freshman Tech game was in 1966 against Penn State so yes, I am old. It just seems like at Tech, more than any other school I know, financial pressures lead to change and often to decisions that are more about finances than fans. Obviously, fans in the stands are not as important as other revenue streams. Might be an interesting discussion though, how important is it to have fans in the stands?

Should have gotten it in blue so we could extend the school color argument into another thread. That would be the humanitarian thing to do.

You can see in this pic the logos are stitched in. I bet the endzones are base blue and the letters are stitched in as well. I hope we don't go that route and are able to change it up like MBS.

Naw....the state championships, if we get them, need to have "GEORGIA TECH" in the endzones

Doubt we'll get them. School still going on/finals week starts the same week as the GISA state championships. Logistics would probably be a nightmare with students still on campus.

I think it was part of the plan when they let the field go to öööö at the end of last season. Our field has never looked that way.
No I doubt that was part of the plan. The field would've been re-sodded anyway even if we were keeping natural turf. Don't forget we had 4 games in the month of November last year, and 3 in span of 15 days.

What if I told you the new field will have LED lighting so that you now get that yellow first down line across the field like you do when you watch on TV?
