Geoff Collins is a Joke

Unpopular opinion: CGC was hired, and hired a staff, primarily to turn over the roster and rebrand GT as ATL instead of 3O. That and no one else was interested in the job.

Agreed...the list of premier coaches who had any coaching experience who would have taken the money we had to offer to do this job was probably zero...The GT job wasn’t particularly attractive 22 months ago...

I mean, we pick this unknown, underrecruited kid up from nowhere, give him a free ride to Tech and the family complains after a couple losses? This is nonsense folks need to stop airing in public.
Is this the guy we recruited from BFE, SC right near signing day? If so, good luck making that family decision to watch Furman games.

I’ve been told over and over Collins would unequivocally end the practice of recruiting FCS talent.
I don’t blame him for recruiting the guy. No one really knew what he was because of where he played HS ball. We just knew he had the measurables. So we took a flyer on an overlooked guy. I’m ok with that. His family publicly acting like we are squandering his 5* talent when he was a nobody who was going to play nowhere is what I’m not ok with.

Collins said after the game that Sims was pulled because of some of the hits he took.
I would be ashamed of myself if I were an OL hearing this. Bad snaps. Missed assignments. DL almost taking the handoff at the mesh. Getting your true freshman QB beaten up to the point where he doesn't know if the next play he'll have blocking or if his offensive guard is going to let a DT run unblocked to pound him to the turf for a sack. I'm certain Sims has that in his mind every snap. The "I may have 1-2 seconds before a 330 lb DT piledrives me into this turf". Our OL is embarrassing. What happened to Cooper? Did he just decide he likes being on the sideline and doesn't want to put in the work to get back on the field?

I can understand any parent's frustration at seeing what we're all seeing, but ultimately, those sorts of antics won't help his son find a new landing spot. Coaches don't like helicopter parents who are going to air out their dirty laundry on social media.

Those guys need about four or five weeks of practice with George O’Leary. That poor effort crap will stop.

Collins has worked under O’Leary and Saban. He should know how to tighten up effort and deal with players that miss assignments.

What frustrates me is rolling the same guys out there when they’re playing like öööö and have for years. I want guys to start losing PT based on poor results. I can defend playing young guys who make mistakes, but playing bad seniors is indefensible.

Also on the post game Geoff cited turnovers as a big reason for the poor outcome. I don’t disagree they had an impact... but if I recall we didn’t force a punt in the first half. Also, we gave up more rushing in the first half than BC has had in any full game... WTF do turnover have to do with that. The defense needs to be better. Geoff needs to own it.

You’ve run your mouth 10 years and nothing but stupidly comes out. Go root for the dawgs. You got your new coach and he’s a joke and program going down the tubes. He’s utterly awful.

Read this slowly. What did you expect our record to be after these 6 games? 4-2? 5-1? I mean with all the talent left why not 6-0?

I agree when Chris Martin and J. Lee left the team the defense is showing that this Coach is losing players and talent is walking away... However Collins has brought in Highly touted Transfers for the defense ( 5 star DE, three 4 star DBs) who played and practice all last year, so yes the Defense should be good enough to slow down Cuse & BC...

I think you are missing everyones point... It is not the losses, it is how we are losing.... last year we heard that the players were playing hard... Not sure I bought that, but hey it is a rebuild year, a zero year an the transfers could not play.. This year all transfers can play... and yesterday Boston College entered the game averaging only 66 rushing yards per game, with a season high of 90 rushing yards. The Eagles finished with 264 rushing yards and scored 48 points. This is worse than any Paul Johnson Defense... This is Bill Lewis type stuff
