Get Over It

See my post from the apology thread. The players on this team are playing for individual accolades like jersey numbers, getting to do the uniform reveal, chaos creator tweets, and writing their twitter handle on a whiteboard. This is the coach’s problem because he fosters that environment with a lot of stupid motivational stuff.

it’s time to get rid of all of that. Everything is team or nothing for this year. No more of that stuff. No more names on jerseys. No GTs on helmets until earned as a team.

fu dude. You don’t get to hand out the GT on the helmet. It’s is earned when you sign the letter of commitment and show up on campus. Turn yours in if you don’t agree.

Way too much sandy vag on the board today. We are in year 1.5 of a complete rebuild, there was always going to be some pain. So can we please stop with the Dear Facebook letters and meaningless comparisons of how many points we let BC score compared to others. CGC isn't going anywhere for a long time. Get over it.

:bigcry:
When, if ever, are you going to care that Tech's football team stinks? Year 4? Year 5.2? Or are you going to continue to be happy as long as the mutts are winning?

Jts is an idiot. He thinks we’re bitching about a win loss record. I personally don’t give a $hit about us not winning in year 2 of a rebuild. But we should expect to see disciplined play. It is blatantly obvious that our coaches do not have us ready to play in any phase of the game.

Absolutely on point. Our guys continue to make the same mistakes and all they get is a pat on the helmet. Coaching from game one to the BC game this week appears non-existent at best, ineffective at worst.

Have you seen anything positive on the field besides a couple solid recruits? This team isn't any better than last year. The coaching, play calling, def scheme (and he's a def minded coach) are crap to be nice. Zero Discipline. When Curry is our best option on Def....Houston we have a huge problem

No one said he couldn't recruit braniac. We've said his coaching is suspect. Everyone wanted a change from CPJ....well the last time CPJ played CGC....he buried him in the Orange Bowl

Curry isn’t fast. He’s a strong guy. This year’s defense looks like we are putting guys in the position where they will be in the future. It doesn’t seem to match what our guys can actually do.

The penalties are a problem. That is discipline.

Again, why are we still talking about CPJ? Loved the guy and we had some great moments, but he's gone and so is the 3O. If you want CGC gone, you should be talking about a replacement not the prior coach.

Not at all..... Prob been watching Tech before you were even a thought. Season Tix for 21 yrs. But that's neither here nor there. So you think hiring a recruiter with an unproven coaching record to a 7 yr contract was smart business for the future?

This team has some quit in them from the old regime players. At least Chris Martin and Jaziel Lee quit the team and didn’t do it on the field in the middle of the games.

My fandom is bigger than yours.

CGC was a gamble as a head coach (and early returns aren’t looking great), but he’s got some pedigree as an assistant and he understands Tech and has a passion for it. And he’s hired some coaches that seem to have some credentials (and ties to Tech) like Choice, Key, and Coleman.

Given the culture shift and rebuild that we’re doing, guaranteeing stability for a few years (maybe 7 is too much, but 5 seems like a reasonable minimum) seems like a key part of the process. I wish the contract was smaller and more incentive-based, but IIWII.

I can see the justification for what we’ve done, but I still want to see some progression on the field. Not necessarily W-L, but just the eye test. Historic losses in year 1 are one thing, but they’re a lot more concerning in year 2. People said coming into 2020 that we might be a better team with a worse record. The latter is still on the table, but I’m not sure about the former yet.

2-4 is pretty much right where we should have expected to be. So the record hasn’t been concerning.

The historic loss to Clemson is concerning. But less so given that we want an uptempo offense. That means getting booty blasted when things aren’t working. Ask any team in the Big 12.

Getting blasted by UCF in the 4th quarter was kind of where we honestly fall at this point.

Getting beat by Cuse due to sloppy play and stupid penalties is on coach. Getting run out of Boston because of sloppy play, stupid penalties, and a bad defensive scheme is on coach. Both of those games should have been a one score contest either way. We were expected to split those games, not to be multi score losers in both.

Basically, the reason we are 2-4 and not 3-3 or 4-2 is because we are playing undisciplined ball.

I've been saying that for a while. Our defensive players just aren't a great fit for what the coaches want them to do.

And this isn’t an original thought, but I guess it’s a calculated gamble to try to do what you ultimately want to do even though you don’t yet have the personnel for it (and therefore look real bad) rather than try to scheme to the personnel you have (and give the impression that you’re not making a clean break with the previous regime).

I just hope we don’t look SO bad that it backfires by driving away the fans, donors, and recruits. That’s why I’m so focused on how bad we look in some of the losses, more so than the fact that we’re losing.

Still irrelevant to the complaints that people are leveling about CGC, like game management, playcalling, motivation, and teaching fundamentals. Nobody's calling for him to be fired, but people are absolutely trying to figure out why we suddenly look like so undisciplined week after week. Collins has absolutely ramped up our recruiting efforts, but that's worth absolutely zero if we can't coach them up.

Those criticisms are extremely reasonable, and mocking people who expect better just make you look like a tool.
