Texas just stole Bama's special teams coach for . . .

$1 million a year for three years. $3.15 million total. JUST for special teams.

Anyone know what Tech pays its special teams coach? I'm guessing that it might be a tad less.

Is this true, you think?

Texas needs to shore up recruiting. They have let a ton of talent get away from them. Manzell is a good example of not recognizing talent. Texas has made bad decisions for years on recruits, especially QB's.
Herman had the #1 player in the country for the ‘22 class committed until he backed off due to Texas shopping around for a new coach. Supposed to be the best QB prospect since Lawrence. Believe he flipped to OSU.

It's a lot of money, but if your goal is to pull away Bama's staff, you're going to have to shell out mountains of cash.

Great move. The next O$U QB who becomes a superstar in the NFL will be the first.

Yeah, when Mike Tomczak is your all-time top NFL QB, it's not saying much. (LINK)
Yep. Tomczak is still at the top of that ugly group. Although a couple of them were converted into decent NFL position players.

O$U plays in a conference which it dominates more than any other school dominates its conference with the POSSIBLE exception of Clemson. They constantly have receivers running 5, 10 or more yards open. That's college open. No need to fit passes within windows the size of a mailbox opening, which is NFL open, and when guys are running so wide open on every play, you would be stupid to even try it.

I just saw this with Simba, who everyone told me was soooooo accurate because he completed like 70+% of his passes with more than 50 TDS and single digit INTs at O$U. But they did not actually WATCH his throws; I did. And when he got to The Football Team and he had to throw into tight NFL windows. . . that completion % plummeted and the turnover rate soared.

Now they're saying the same things about Fields. But again, I watched his throws. He is definitely much better than Haskins, and he seems to be much more mature (how could he not be?). But I do not see that he is consistently accurate at the level which is required in the NFL. If he is drafted in the top five, I smell another bust. Not as convinced as I was with Simba, but I think bust is more likely than not. Actually hope I'm wrong because it would make dwags fans bitter to have let him go if he becomes an NFL star. Dwags fans OUGHT to be really bitter that they could not keep Sunshine in their own state. But I guess . . . we'll see.

Sark hires Stoops until he doesn't. Perhaps boosters ain't gonna let Sark run the program how he sees fit. Just make your money and wait for the eventual firing and buyout, Sark.

I agree. Alabama is right behind O$U on the list of places where good HS QBs go to die. Tua is already a bust, and I wouldn't draft Mac Jones on a dare (even though I think he will be a better pro than Tua or Hurts). No need to develop NFL skill sets at QB when you have five future pros providing 5 or 10 seconds of pass protection and eleventy-seven future NFL receivers on your roster running 5 and 10 yards clear of any defenders on nearly every play.
