Thanks. I started to include that in my post, and actually left #86 in the post, but I could never figure out who it was. Good job.1971, Greg Horne & Duke are all correct.
Mike Oven is #86 having just put his guy on the ground & trying not a get an AstroTurf elbow burn.
You're welcome. Pretty easy to do as a teammate of Greg & Mike's.Thanks. I started to include that in my post, and actually left #86 in the post, but I could never figure out who it was. Good job.
I checked Army photos online, and they didn't have a uniform or helmet like what is shown in that photo1971 was my freshman year. I’m pretty sure the pic is from the Army game. I’m told that loss sealed Bud Carson’s fate as HC.
Army wore gold-white-gold (and blah black shoes & black shoelaces) in that game. Will dig out a photo from the AJC I kept & edit this later.I checked Army photos online, and they didn't have a uniform or helmet like what is shown in that photo
Check out this game video and you will see numerals on the Army helmets. There is no numeral on the opponent's helmet in the photo posted above.Army wore gold-white-gold (and blah black shoes & black shoelaces in that game. Will dig out a photo from the AJC I kept & edit this later.

Neither image shows the uniforms worn, so it really appears from the video highlights of the Army game, that it wasn't Army in that vintage photo. Whether is is Duke is still not known for sure, but it almost has to be them.If a thumbnail doesn't show, click on the file to open.
And that's Carson's son, Cliff, aged 11. If Carson stood up, he wasn't much taller than his son.
Beware snarky former players who are pack rats....... DS
Are those RATS sitting cross-legged on the field? Pretty cool seats (until a toss sweep gets strung out over there, I guess!)![]()

I simply wanted to know the answer. I recently discovered a lot of old Tech football pictures. I plan to post more in the coming weeks.Maybe some background on why you are asking?
