2022 Recruiting

Let's give this some perspective. From Next Gen Stats on the NFL preseason.

Damn really?! I’m having a hard time reconciling this in my head. Is it possible we are good this year? Like for real for real?

Did you find it?

No but it's out there. It speaks about how the jump in the recruiting is the big thing to look for. Forgot what the hypothesis was but it was something along the lines of predicting who would make good runs that particular season based upon the Croot classes. I think they back tested it to Y2K.

Is there ANY chance we can bring the conversation in this thread back to Recruiting? Please?
Do you have some recruiting news we can talk about? It’s the dead period so there won’t be much out there right now. Maybe some highlights from some our our recruits’ current games, but that’s it.

We have 5 players faster than anyone in the NFL? Bodes well...
No, but NFL players slow down some from their college days. This is ball carriers (as pointed out) who played week 1 of preseason, and not all the stars saw the field that week.

My takeaway and why I posted it, is we are fast enough. It is the other skills which will decide our fate. But we won't be able to say we are too slow to compete.

My second takeaway is our players practice fast, which means the are familiar with what they need to do on each play. I think that is a very encouraging measurement confirming what the coaches have been claiming all spring.

Tech has a track team, right. How many of those guys are faster than the FB guys? We should just suit up the fastest guys and, bingo - profit, right?

How about we get the top 5 guys on the NFL list and have them run against the top 5 Tech guys in a side by side drill? Who wins?

This speed discussion is inane.

Spare me the "we are faster now" nonsense. So what? Can they catch, block, hit at speed? Time will tell. Until then the speed to results correlation is near zero.

Faster is better than slower just like bigger is better than smaller. Yes we need to perform and get some wins but speed is always a positive.

You know how I know you did not read my post you quoted?

Show me where the fast man touched you… clearly you have deep, repressed issues.

That’s the spirit.
