2022 Recruiting

Did the home and home mean we don’t have to pay them to pay us? If so, great, let’s do it. We’ll play down the road in their baseball stadium.

Our MBS matchups for the next three years are already set:
2022: Clemson (CFA Kickoff Game)
2023: Lousville (CFA Kickoff Game)
2024: Notre Dame

Our OOC schedule is:
2022: WCU, Ole Miss, @UCF, @ugag
2023: @Ole Miss, Bowling Green, ugag
2024: GA St, Austin Peay, Notre Dame, @ugag
2025: @Colorado, Temple, ugag
2026: Colorado, @GA St, @ugag

Right. My post wasn't referring to the games under the current six-year deal.

While this is true, you have to look at the value they're getting from us traveling to their stadium, too. As far as I can tell, they've never sold out a home game. (Looks like they list capacity at 25,000 and their highest attendance was the opening game at Turner field against Tennessee State with just over 24,000 in attendance.) Looks like they typically hover around 15,000 attendance. We will basically guarantee them a sold out game. Probably the first in their history. (Looks like UNC is playing there next year and Vandy is playing there in 2024. Maybe UNC would sell them out too?)

For anybody that's been bitching about playing a game at the Benz, were you there Saturday night? That place was absolutely rocking with 38k people there. Can you imagine what it will be like when our ornery fan base finally starts attending games again??

From some of the things I've read here, a significant percentage of our fanbase is afraid to venture ITP. You might get them to BDS, but there no way in hell they will come to MBS.

Right @byteback?

Traffic was extremely smooth postgame, at least leaving the red lot. Was my first time driving to the Benz. Granted it wasn't a full crowd but still surprising. Got out of the city in 10 minutes

It isn't the traffic. Some are afraid that they will be mugged or killed.

No, it's much more the traffic, ridiculous cost of parking, idiotic see-through purse rules, blazing hot, sun-reflecting bleachers etc. And then you have to sit in the nose-bleeds while the chairbacks sit there 80% empty. It's an all around hassle. We're not talking about walking a back alley with no one around at 1 AM. That is when and where the muggings happen.

Movie theatre in Macon recently did a cool thing. They removed their old seats, and replaced them with recliners with big cupholders and plenty of space between patrons. They've got about half the seats they had, but they never filled those up anyway. Watching a movie there is a much nicer experience now. If the stadium is ever renovated, this concept should come into play. You are competing with people's couches and big screen tvs at home. Fewer seats, but more comfort. And figure out a way people can pay less than $30 for parking without having to walk a half mile.

These are pretty much constants unless you want to pay more for convenience/quality, so you're essentially saying to never go to Tech games.

No, that is not what I'm saying. I go to 2 or 3 a year. But it's a hassle. And for a lot more reasons than Mr. Urbane, Cosmopolitan Coit snooting at the rubes about their fear of crime.
