This is absolutely revisionist history. Just go look back at how many threads we had on how bad our OL was. We've sucked on OL since Todd Spencer left.
I agree with this. Starting in about 2015, the OL was definitely an issue. Lots more mental mistakes than we were used to seeing, in addition to getting physically dominated by bigger DLs.

That being said, even with bigger and stronger players, our current OL is even worse. We have more skill position talent than we’ve had in over a decade, and we struggle massively to sustain drives against decent defenses. Gibbs rushing for -10 yards against Pitt is absolutely inexcusable.

What is up with all the silly, immature, and imbecilic "yo momma" posts on here. You make yourselves look like children and do no favor at all to Tech fans or this site. GROW UP, LITTLE BOYS !!!

The truth hurts, doesn't it. Even your retort is childish. I was warned about this silliness before I joined this site, and the warnings have definitely proved true. GROW UP !!!!
I think the best part of this is that your username is “Supersize That Order Mutt” and you’re complaining about juvenile behavior/decorum.

One thing CGC has shown is an ability to fix issues. Look at the difference in penalties from year 1 to year 3. Our kicking game has improved considerably as well. He even improved Chick management by assigning that time to someone in game. I’m optimistic he will continue to improve the areas the team is struggling in.
We missed an extra point and our punting sucked. Not to mention we went for two when it made no sense at all.

We went for two because we didn’t think we could win in OT. If you go for two on the last TD and don’t get it the game is over. If you go for two on the second to last TD and don’t get it you can still go for two to tie on the last TD.

As the poster said it made no sense at all.

With 9 wins in 3 years, what is laughable is the greatest-rebuild-in-the-history-of-the-universe zealots calling people who liked CPJ "fanboys". At least wait until the current regime can get its head above water. You know, teams who run our current scheme lose hundreds and hundreds of games over the course of a season.

It makes perfect sense if you aren’t an idiot.
It makes no sense to have the idea, “we can’t beat this team in OT. So we have to get a 2-pointer at some point.” I agree that if you start with that non-sensical premise it makes sense to go for 2 early.

So NIU shouldn’t have gone for two? Paul Johnson shouldn’t have gone for two against UT? We didn’t stop UVA at all. The only way to win was to steal the game in regulation.

I don’t know anything about the crew team at Tech but the thinking between you and the other GTCrew makes me think the team just sits there and smacks themselves in the head with the oars.

Going for 2 pt when down by 14 is standard nowadays. It is what all the metrics and data analysis says you should do. Basically, winning in OT is 50-50.

Going for 2 in that situation increases your chance of winning the game to something like 55 or 60%.

FWIW, I don’t personally like it but understand it. I also think getting to OT given how much we had been outplayed would have been a smart reason to go off book.

This is a different argument. I’m in favor of going for the win and going for two in the right moment as in when the opportunity to win the game presents itself and you have the momentum. I totally agree that those were good calls on their part. But what we did was chase the points early which 1) allows your opponent to adjust on their possessions. 2) eliminates your ability to go for the XP tie in the event of a penalty during the 2 point try.
