Thacker still DC

I'll take whatever bricks I have to take for this but what if Thacker turns out to be the next Venables?

Not saying he is but our entire athletic department just hitched their wagon to this guy. Let's see what he can do.

When a bold move is backed up with chips, I have a bit more respect for it. Pretty sure I don't have to explain that.
This. öööö it, let's do this. #ThackerBacker #kms

The guys pushing said chips don’t seem very bright. Let’s hope the River hits then

He is a young coach and seems pretty bright. Who knows? Maybe it really was Burton and his guys who were the problem. Collins is willing to bet his job that is the case, so I will wait and see.

what if cgc turns out to be the next Dabo? Dabo only had 9 wins in his first 3 full season, too.

edit: Dabo actually had 25 wins in his first 3 full seasons.

Oh what the heck, I was a Thackerbacker for seasons 1&2, why not 1 last hurrah in season #4. Who knows, maybe in season #4 we have the best DL and OL in the Coastal. [It could happen]

This feeling will last until Ugiahleelaylay gets 80 yards and a TD in three throws to open the 2022 season.

Yours. His. Hers. Everyone. I'm the Copycat.

This is getting ridiculous by the day. What a joke Collins has turned Georgia Tech Football into.
Georgia Tech football is a joke because the “I” simply doesn’t care. Has been that way for a long time.

Reposting seems appropriate:

To remind everyone how epically bad we were:

Total Defense: 117/130
3rd Down Defense: 117/130
4th Down Defense: 91/130
Red Zone Defense: 104/130

Passing Yards Allowed: 121/130
Passing TDs Allowed: 123/130
Passing Yards / Attempt: 130/130 (to be 130 out of 130 in a category is an accomplishment)

Rushing Yards Allowed: 100/130
Rushing TDs Allowed: 77/130
Rushing Yards / Attempt: 81/130
Ive been trying to find something good to say about our defense. The lone sort of bright spot on defense seemed to me to be our 4th down rushing defense. The stop against Duke led to Cutcliffe making some conservative calls later that kept us in it.

We were 76th in the country in opponent 4th down %. I can't find the stat specific to rushing, but given how bad our pass defense was, i would bet we were about average agaisnt runs on 4th down. That's the nicest thing i can come up with.

My lasting impression of Thacker will be watching a switch to the 3-3-5 catch UNC completely off guard and thinking “man this guy came up with a great gameplan for this game.” Only to realize that was his singular gameplan for the rest of the season regardless of opponent, down, distance, score.

Watching Pickett stand still in the pocket for 5 seconds while 1 or 2 of their OL checked their phones for lack of anything better to do only to watch the exact same thing on the next play ended any illusion that he was capable of coordinating a D1 defense. We’re likely staring at an even worse defense next year with a schedule full of scary offenses.

The Thack Attack is coming back for 2022! I have nine months to prepare my body. On Sept 5, 2022, on Clemson's first possession, I will assume the position with my body ready with lube on hand this time around.

If that was the case, then it's really disturbing that neither Collins or Thacker recognized it and corrected it, BEFORE the damage was done. As for who knows , maybe the secondary players who had eligibility remaining who chose to leave.

Here's my positive spin on Thacker. He likes aggressive attacking defense; but to date we haven't had the DL to pull it off. Next season will be crucially dependent on the DL. If the DL can challenge most OL's then the defense can have a decent year.

(Of course the DL is crucial every year regardless of DC and I am stating the obvious)
