Realistic expectations

I am curious as to what everyone's expectation are. I am looking for some realistic expectations for the next season. For instance, I expect to win game 2 and enter the Duke game, as a 1 win team. I also expect to have 4 wins, next year. Not sure 4 wins will save Collins, but that is for another thread. What I am looking for is what everyone's level of expectations are for next year.

For me. As mentioned, I expect 4 wins. I also expect to see less turnovers from our QB. I expect to see increased production from our running game. On the other side of the ball, I expect to see better defensive schemes. I expect to see less yards in the air and little more yards allowed in the run game. I expect us to not get blown out, in as many games, as we did last year. Overall, I expect to see better play on the O line, and better play in our D backfield.

So you expect improvement across the board but only one added win. I expect us to be a .500'ish team, with key plays determining whether we are 5-7. 6-6. or 7-5. Need to feast on the crummy coastal because the schedule does us no favors otherwise.

I want to see growth and improvement on the O and D lines throughout the year. I want to see us pickoff one or two games where we are 7+ underdogs. I want to see what Watson brings to recruiting and a solid 23 class. I want to see Sims cut down on mistakes and improve accuracy. I want to see better coaching decisions and better adjustments. I want to see better more diverse offensive play calling. I want to see some of the transfers make immediate impacts.

I expect 5-7 wins. We were a bad team last year, but we were in MOST of the games. Clean up the stupid mistakes, increase offensive production by a 6 points while decreasing turnovers (bigger issue), and decrease defensive points allowed by a few points, and we are at 7 wins.

Kudos to all of you guys who still have an idea of what reality is after what GT football has gone through in the past say, 7 years. Sadly I don't even know what that means anymore.

Yeah, the last 2 games somewhat understandably broke people's brains and made them forget the season had promise halfway through it. People also don't account for missing our starting QB about half the season.

We were in most games; meaning we were on the field.
Seriously, we need to have some semblance of a game plan. So far, with Collins, we look aimless.
I think Tillman consolidating the D-Backfield will cut down on the two to three 50+ yard touchdown passes per game we gave up last year.
IF...BIG IF...Key can get any production out of our O Line then I think Chip can game plan us to some points.
Collins can go play on twitter while the adults run the show.
I am hoping for 6-6 and I think its attainable.

Did you somehow forget you posted the exact same thread a month ago?

We play in the ACC we should always be able to make a Bowl or win at least 6. However we are talking about Geoff Collins.... So if you take 3, no one would probably blame you based on his body of work thus far.

What's the actual question here? Expectations or predictions? This question could mean what do you expect to happen, what do you want to happen, what do you think will happen, what is actually realistic despite what you may expect or want etc. That seems to be a mix of the answers I'm seeing.

Taken at face value, meaning expectation and not prediction, taking out wants, wishes and desires, I haven't seen any evidence that suggests anything other than to answer the question of realistic expectations with "not much". We'll see what actually happens.

my expectation is that CGC will teach the offense his process for third down and two.
Timeout
delay of game
offsides
mis-snap
punt

I expect 3 wins. How could anyone possibly expect anything else? And thats an expectation not a prediction because the only game I predict we will for sure win is WCU. The talent hasn't improved its actually gotten worse. The coaching might be better but I think like when Chaney failed at UT under an authoritarian coach, we are seeing the same thing here. Good coaches aren't allowed to coach under CGC. And there are some good coaches at Tech, I'm intrigued to see who our O'Leary is when we make the inevitable change after the Duke game headed into a bye.

The word expectation is ambiguous. Most likely as it is used here it is what do they think will happen next football season. I think most people think we will win 4 to 6 games. If a parent or teacher is using the word expectation it would be defined as what “should” happen next football season. Then you get into the idea of 6 to 7 wins and vast improvement. We will see.

I expect us to start 1-4, have a close game against Duke that is 50/50 whether we win. We come out flat against UVA and the team quits on the coaching staff. We end with 1 or 2 wins. That's my realistic expectation.

I think this is spot on, and ultimately the risk to the season. Pretty evident Collins only has a job because it will be cheaper to fire him in December. As the season limps along and the inevitable consumes the team, keeping all the oars in the water at once will become a challenge. The lack of depth over the course of the season will also creep into play.

"...some realistic expectations"? More of the same, just different actors.
