The more I think about where we are as a program and our prospects for 2022, I’ve become convinced of this- we either win 2 games this year or we win 8+. I really do not believe we stumble into a 4-6 win season.
Either the glaring issues of the past 3 years remain unchanged, and we beat Western Carolina and Duke and that’s it, the team loses interest and the wheels completely fall off, OR-
Somehow everything clicks. Weinke does his magic to make Sims the QB we hoped and thought he could be, Collins actually does coach the defense and they become good enough to hold.
Even under the best circumstances, beating U(sic)Ga is no chance, and Clemson, Ole Miss, and UCF are not impossible, but really tough outs. Maybe if everything is clicking one is an upset? Maybe under the best possible scenario we beat two?
But that’s my take. This year is not a gradual step in the right direction. Either it’s status quo (or worse) the team quits by October and Collins is fired, or a huge leap forward back to tier-2 of the ACC, an 8 or 9 win season where we beat Pitt and Uva and FSU and Miami and UNC and at least play well with UCF and Ole Miss.
