The more I think about where we are as a program and our prospects for 2022, I’ve become convinced of this- we either win 2 games this year or we win 8+. I really do not believe we stumble into a 4-6 win season.
Either the glaring issues of the past 3 years remain unchanged, and we beat Western Carolina and Duke and that’s it, the team loses interest and the wheels completely fall off, OR-
Somehow everything clicks. Weinke does his magic to make Sims the QB we hoped and thought he could be, Collins actually does coach the defense and they become good enough to hold.
Even under the best circumstances, beating U(sic)Ga is no chance, and Clemson, Ole Miss, and UCF are not impossible, but really tough outs. Maybe if everything is clicking one is an upset? Maybe under the best possible scenario we beat two?
But that’s my take. This year is not a gradual step in the right direction. Either it’s status quo (or worse) the team quits by October and Collins is fired, or a huge leap forward back to tier-2 of the ACC, an 8 or 9 win season where we beat Pitt and Uva and FSU and Miami and UNC and at least play well with UCF and Ole Miss.

I agree with the OP…kinda…I’ll say 2-3 or more than 7.

What’s likely to be higher: our win count or games with Sims losing possession on a fumble

The UCF and Pitt games are the season IMO.

Lose both and its gonna be a two-winner. Split and we have a shot at six. Win both and we have a shot at 7.

That said we are going to lose both and win two.

I'll go one step further and say the season is lost or saved after the first four games (#4 being UCF). If we're 2-2, then we win 5-6 games. If 1-3, we win 2-3 games. If 3-1, we win 7-8.

This makes the most sense. If we’re 2-2, which means we beat WCU and won one of the Clem, Ole Miss, and UCF games, then I could see a 5-6 win season. Of course for that to happen the light will have to click on for Sims, some WR’s will have to step up, and the DL will have to be a pleasant surprise. I don’t see the ACC being all that tough so some games should be winnable if we have decent talent …. big if.

Key to 2-2 first 4 games....Deion White as pass rusher is effective and remains healthy. 1-3 and we ded. Pitt's OL will pound us and their DL will stuff us. I think we will impress without winning against Clem and OM, and look bad against UCF. Still sticking with 5 wins and scoring this time against uga.

Pity’s OL was made up of mostly super seniors. They all graduated.

If we beat Clemson or Ole Miss, we win 8. If not, we win 2. Momentum
