My theory is that Collins was told his OL coach would be Key and neither he nor either OC had a choice about it.
 
It will be interesting to see if the depth chart, atmosphere and strategy change under Key, Long, Chaney or an unnamed interim coach.

That is what I am curious about. Will we see different starters now that Collins is not dictating who plays? Will we see differences in the offensive and defensive strategy.

I don't believe Collins ever told Key who to start on OL. I don't even believe he ever wanted to. I just can't see Collins being that micro-managing and having that depth of knowledge; but I can be wrong about that.
 
If we hire a new head coach before the end of the season, would they take over for Key immediately? Or would we just let the season play out?

I don't think I've ever heard of a coach starting his tenure in the middle of a season. I'd guess they'll find someone, then if it won't be a distraction, they'll announce who and when they'll start. If it will, they'll just announce that they've made a decision.
 
My wild guess is Key was retained since Long is new and didn't recruit many of the players. I recall McWhorter filling in quite well but Key is no McWhorter. If your going by positional groups, Key's O Line has been horrible and shown no improvement. If he was supposed to be helping on punt blocking I'd have had him out the door before Collins.

If someone can't coach a damn OL....he can't coach. Four years of eval. Tech doesn't care about football. They don't care about integrity. They deserve the outcomes. Tech appears to embrace garbage.

I don't have much to base this on, but my hunch would be any coach we would hire would finish out the regular season at their current school/team. Even if we hired someone who isn't currently coaching (which seems unlikely), my guess is that it's Key's team for the remainder of the season.

Dude, come on. If Tech didn't care at least a little bit about football, they would not have sh!t-canned Clown and TStan in the middle of the season. Key is just temporary, he ain't gonna be the head ball coach at the start of next season.
