Conspiracy theory time:

This was the plan all along, ADTS just didn’t last long enough to see it to fruition.

The Fritz “hire” was a psyop as a token of thanks to UCF (look at the GT-UCF ties) to throw off Tulane in the AAC championship game.
 
Once this becomes official, then GT will be officially removed from the mistake that was G**** C******. I’m mad at myself for buying into the hype, ignoring Citadel, NIU, etc, 100-0 finally woke me up. That clown really set this program back and it pisses me off this he’s walking away with north of $10M.

I'm very worried about the Defense next year. Losing both Linebackers and our best Defensive end will be hard to replace. I'm afraid the D may regress no matter who the coach is.
The offense will have to be better for our record to be better is my thinking. The Oline did seem to improve by the end of the year. They were even making blocks downfield in front of the running backs instead of behind the backs against UGAG. And the pass pro was better also by the last game.

“Do you really think you’re the best hire? But seriously, do you?”

“Tech fans are expecting an ACC title game next year, are you going to deliver?”

“Is this team gonna look like that OL you’ve been coaching for four years?”

TBH, I just want to see the team play hard and smart for one full season. If Key can deliver that to me, I don't care what the record ends up being, he will have my patience, but I also have a very hard time believing that we could play hard and smart for a full season and win fewer than six. It's not like we're gonna get everyone's best shot, and even if we did, it's the ACC lol.

I'm not making excuses for Key. I'm just saying what I think we need to do next year to win more games.
I didn't even want Key as the coach. I wanted Riley cause we need an offensive minded coach to take us to the next level, IMHO.
I'm agnostic on Key.

Valid points. Losing those three is going to hurt, as they were the core of the defense, but such is the nature of college football. You lose your senior leaders every year. The good news is that almost the entire rest of the team at least has eligibility to come back. The OL, in particular, is incredibly young. The DL, outside of White, and most of the secondary should be back.

If we're getting 8/11 and, by my count, 18/22 back on a defense that certainly seems to have turned a corner, we should be the envy of most of the college football world.

Completely agree that success next season is going to hinge on better better than 114th in total offense. No defense can overcome that kind of production.
