Interview with Wommack

Go back and read this thread and let's see who fired the insults first--me, or posters "replying" to my thread. It's always this way on Stingtalk. A bunch of immature jackasses that, rather than come back with facts or informed opinions, hurl insults. Go back and read it, and then tell me about starting insults.

Drinkclearwiskey is just WRONG about who started the insults (apparently can't read the thread), as is BOR (attributes statements to me that I did not make so that he can say I am wrong-how clever). ncjacket tries to spin things ( as usual) to avoid the objective fact that Wommack was fired from Arkansas, and he is uninformed about the hiring of Wommack, which does not prevent him from arguing out his butt.

My four point post above is all FACTS. Anyone who disagrees is disagreeing with objective fact. You may as well argue that 2 plus 2 does not equal 4, which is very likely on this board, with an insult to the poster who says 2 plus 2 is 4 thrown in for good measure.

I agree with beej67 that PJ WILL get rid of Wommack if he doesn't work out, which is back to my original post--Wommack is near the top of my list of concerns about this year's team. And for good reason.

Both of you go to your room!

Let me define something for you... what you offered is subjective OPINION, not facts. What I put in the text box for you to read ARE facts. But don't let that get in your way... while we're on the subject of facts, you forgot one...

You're a dumbass.

Apparently I am the only guy in this thread that watched the last 5 games of last season, or at least, the only guy in this thread that understood what he was seeing from the defense.

If Wommack doesn't see the need for change in his scheme, he doesn't understand that OCs had adjusted to his scheme by the end of the year, and were trashing it. Even Miami and Nix would have scored a lot of points if they could have completed passes to very open receivers.

Tenuta did so much more with no more talent than Wommack had last year. Tenuta understood how to hide talent deficiencies. Wommack did not do that last year, and this interview does not express concern over the way the year ended. If that doesn't concern you, you have your head up your butt.

Maybe Wommack has plans that he does not want to air publicly. That would be smart, and I hope it's true. However, last year's performance--and failure to adjust-- suggests otherwise.

I saw our D fall apart at the end of last season due to lack of depth in the secondary. Look at the Clemson game. When our CB pulled his hamstring, that was the begining of the end for us. That game wouldn't have been close if we had been forced to shuffle the whole secondary. From that point forward teams started going deep on us or flooding the backfield with recievers. If they had a decent QB and thier OL gave them protection, we got burned. We were blessed to have PJ, because our old offense wouldn't have won a game from Clemson forward.

I wonder if Arkansas started doing better on defense after he was fired. I doubt it. Arkansas was, and is, an utter nuthouse and Petrino fits them well. USC also has some serious talent issues and Southern Miss probably provided him some relative rest after his years in Arkansas and under Spurrier.

I remember I had jacketup on my ignore list for some reason. By far the biggest thing holding up firing Gailey was how many of the Can Chan crowd were utter jackasses.

Great point, one which I had forgotten about. I remember distinctly thinking last season "man, since JWD left, [current opponent] has been eating us alive". Each game I would hope for his return; when he didn't start against UGA, I had a very bad feeling about the game. I thought to myself "Damn, Josh pulled his hammy and was back in 2 weeks! Man up, JWD!". Looking back at the replay of his injury, he pulled the **** out of his hammy.

BTW, has JWD fully recovered from that injury? If him and Burnett are 100%, than Wommack's probably right that the secondary will be our strength next year.

JWD was a senior, which really sucked for him if you ask me. He never got back to health enough for a game the rest of his senior season...

Jahi was a senior last year and graduated.

I feel more confident about our secondary and linebackers though just because we'll have slightly more depth which plagued us last year. Even getting used to Wommack's scheme and gaining experience last year will certainly help our guys out.

No spin, Nutt has been quoted. Also I asked about PJs first choice since you seem to know. Even if Wommack was his second choice it doesn't mean he can't coach defense. Your FACTS are simply pieces of information. That's not the same as facts...they are incomplete. Besides, if you can't tell no one really cares about your list of concerns since you are normally way off base.

By the comments in this thread, Stingtalk posters continue to demostrate the lowest football IQs of all the GT boards. Most people who have football knowledge have moved away from this board because they are attacked by posters who love to swim in their self created mire of ignorance. Most Stingtalk regulars are like a bunch of backwoods close minded inbreads who cast dispersions on outsiders due to a fear of their own inadequacies.

I'll let you go back to things you know about, like uniform colors and intro songs.
Actually this was the first post in this thread that I see with insults in it.

.

Great, so spare yourself the grief and go away.

Since you get no value from the board there is no reason to visit, correct?

You know what is a sign of an "immature jackass"? Someone who throws around terms like "always" and "everybody" easily.

Given your opinion, it doesn't speak well of your own intelligence that you continue to post here.

If you are right, then there is no reason to come here because you aren't missing anything.

If you are wrong, then there is no reason to visit here because we aren't missing anything.

See? It's a win-win scenario. You can "Ignore" the whole board! That'll show everybody!

Try it and wait awhile. You will be vindicated when people seek you out and beg you to come back because everyone misses you insight.

Really put us in our place! by going away.

You're a dumbass.

So what part of my 4 point post above is opinion and not fact? You didn't say, because you CAN'T. So who is the dumbass, you Barrel O' RUBBISH?

First choice was Ellis Johnson, just so you are informed.

Thanks for the (mostly) rational response. Maybe you can teach BOR to do the same, and this board can move toward analytical discussions, which GT engineers should be capable of.

Whatever public spin Nutt put on the situation, let's face it: in the win at all cost SEC state university world, if Wommack was any kind of superior DC, Nutt would have kept him, no matter what else was in play.

If Wommack was any kind of superior defensive mind, another school would have picked him up as DC after Arkansas. Instead, he went to South Carolina as a position coach. He was fired from that job. He then takes a position coach job at a non-BCS school where he used to be DC.

You are basing your views on Nutt's public comment (which is spin/opinion), not on his actions in firing Wommack (which is fact) or Wommack's resume after his firing from Arkansas(which is also fact). Wommack was clearly on the way DOWN until Johnson hired him, which is opinion, but opinion based on pretty solid evidence.

I hope Wommack gets it done, but his resume over the last 8 years plus what I saw at the end of last year leave me doubting his abilities. I hope I am wrong, but he still ranks near the top of my list of concerns. I am not overly concerned because, as beej67 pointed out, PJ will make a change if is a change is indicated.

Ranking my concerns about the team prior to reading this article:

1. DTs
2. Dave Wommack
3. OL
4. CBs

After reading this article, there may be a tie for top spot.

Here is your 4 point post. Maybe you can tell me which one of these you consider fact and not opinion. I will agree that we do have DT, a coach named Dave Wommack, OLineman, and CB's on our team. That much is fact. Concern that these four are our weakest links, is subjective opinion.

I would say that our Oline is the biggest concern, with our linebackers being next. I'm not worried about our DC.

But again, that is just an opinion.. one that many would agree with...

You see the difference dipsh!t?

Which facts from Wommack's tenure at Southern Miss in 1999 and 2000 do you want to draw off if?
