Midway through the talk, Meyer was talking about the "nonsense" that came up again last week when a column by Paul Finebaum in the Mobile paper indicated (again) that Meyer is leaving Florida for Notre Dame after this season.

Meyer turned back to the golfers and said, "I'm not going to Notre Dame. Ever. I'm going to be the coach at Florida for a long time, as long as they want me."

It is interesting how these idiots like Finebaum can just print anything without any regard for accuracy.

Here is a link to that idiot Finebaum's article....

I guess those ala people (like the F$U) are always trying to get the rival coach to leave instead of just figuring out a way to beat that team as is.

The interesting thing about PJ was he never backed down from the ugag rivalry and he even embraced it FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

I'll never call a sports writer intelligent or correct, but in his defense, Urban Meyer saying that carries about as much weight as a fart. Coaches say this kind of thing all the time. Wave enough money in his face, and I'm sure he'd jump over to touchdown Jesus.

I seem to remember a coach stating, "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach." Then in a matter of days, he was.

Why would Meyer ever leave Florida?

State of Florida recruiting vs the North/California?

What a joke. Liberal media propaganda

I still think he'll end up going. ND is the dream job, and I'm sure he thinks he can return them to national relevance.

Damarius, you do realize that there are more high school players in California than in Florida, right?

Personally, I'd never take the ND job. I like fish and all, but eating it every Friday would get old.

I don't know if Meyer will ever take the ND job. He's arrogant enough to. The chance to turn ND back into a relevant team to anyone not named Lou Holtz is a siren song to many coaches. But he can lord over the entire state of Florida right now, and get the cream of the recruiting crop there. He's also the best coach of the best team in the all mighty SEC and that is going to help him out. He can also recruit inmates to play there that would never fly in Touchdown Jesus land. I don't think he'll leave this season, but if the replacement for the Baby Rhinoceros isn't very good, he'd be better off leaving and preserving his legacy at UF.

Fatman's not going anywhere. ND's schedule is too easy for them not to win atleast 9 games this year. He will die of health related problems before he ever resigns or gets fired.

I don't think so. If it really was his dream job he could have had it already.

Well fortunately I think we'll only have to wait one year to see. Once Fat Charlie is gone, you know they'll be going after Meyer.

Yes, but the Irish are really that bad. You can't get any easier the Syracuse, and they managed to lose that game last year. I think Fat Chuck will need a perfect season to get off the hot seat.

Actually, the last numbers I saw showed Texas as the only state to produce more division I scholarship football players than Florida. Georgia was 4th.

See this prior argument. Maybe more div I is from Fl, but more pro players are from California. And would love to see your link for number of div I scholarships, because hard for me to think more pros are from California, but more college players are from Fl.

Do you really think CPJ would turn down a recruiting pipeline to California if there was one? No. I agree with his point now, in that there is no upside to trying to develop one, as there is plenty of talent here -- but to say California is weak on talent is laughable at best.

Really?? Really? Hmm, let us see if the NFL agrees with your belief here. After all, if GA players are so tough, there should be more of them in the pros than California kids.

Hmm, damn, California has more than twice the number of NFL athletes as GA. How can that be if GA players are so tough? Again, maybe per capita we have better players, but there are 2 million students in high school in California (http://www.ed-data.k12.ca.us/Navigation/fsTwoPanel.asp?bottom=/profile.asp?level=04&reportNumber=16).

California vs Florida in terms of high school talent is a living laughing joke. There is no comparison. California produces flaky coast line pansies, whereas Florida instills toughness. No contest here

Probably cause the Californians are hippy liberals while the Floridians are down-home southern boys who live according to the ideals of Dixie.

Y'all are forgetting the fact that Notre Dame can recruit in ANY state that holds Catholics (which is every state of course). recruits don't choose ND for it's football history.
