Chris Jackson?

I would be THRILLED to have him walk on and then make him earn. Scholarship. He would be a sophomore after he sits out a year.

I agree with letting him come back. It sounds to me like he and his family are total GT fans. I believe like the majority on here that he just got some bad advice and some promises from the other side that a 17-18 year old couldn't see past. It happens.

It is very much different from the AU commit. PJ had told that commit to his face if he went GT would rescind. The pressures and the drama involved at the firing are just so different than a simple recruit being told "don't go there".

Plus, if he was a 4-star recruit, GT's receiving corps would be instantly "sickened". Bey Bey, Hill, Jackson (all four stars) and Zack Fisher.

Not too shabby.

I think we should just sit back and see how it plays out.

I wouldn't want to say something now that's just going to make me look dumb if he ends up on our team.

Chris Jackson is not the first 17 year old who has fallen for a line of BS. If he is man enough to come back to GT and truly wants to contribute to our program then I say we roll out the carpet for him.

This is a quote by Chris Jackson's high school coach that was in the AJC: “The reason is his football career,” Roberton said. “He doesn’t just want to be there and get a degree. He wants to play.” While I understand what he means, this is worded very poorly.

My opinion is if he wants to be at GT he can walk on and earn it. He passed on us once. Make him prove how bad he wants to be here. If he doesn't that's fine with me.

Would you have done the same to:

- Dorsey Levens (we recruited him and he chose Notre Dame over us)
- Tashard Choice (from Oklahoma)
- Nate Stimson (we recruited him and he chose Miami over us)
- Anthony Allen (we recruited him and he chose Louisville over us)
- Craig Page (from Navy)
- John Dewberry (we recruited him and he chose UGA over us)
- Tyrone Sorrells (from UGA)
- Albert Poree (we recruited him and he chose Notre Dame over us)

I see your point. But it seems different to me. Maybe because of the coaching change.

The coaching change should be enough to give the guy a break. If I were a 17 year old WR and every coach recruiting me was telling me CPJ's offense didn't throw to WRs, I might would've made the same decision.

Chris never came off as a shady kid. He was just trying to make the best decision on his future. Just like ALL of us would. Throw out your bias for GT and be somewhat neutral for a second and think about this.

I know we like to harp on people committing to the coach and not our beloved institution but we can't expect a kid to have the same loyalties we have. We've been here through all the mess and stuck with Tech. There is bond to the school. For guys like Chris Jackson, not so much. It seems to me that he realized the error of his ways and is trying to correct it.

Put yourself in his shoes... you messed up and you are hoping there will be a little grace given. If he acted like a jerk about it and screwed us and the coaches over, that would be different but I don't think that's what happened here.

You implying that management can't be a woman? Have you ever been in or seen a management class?!

Makes a frat party look like a sausage fest (only counting those parties that are not, in fact, sausage fests)

Well, yes I am implying, but considering most people in management at engineering firms are still engineers and men.

A very impressive list. OK, Chris. Come on down. :)

I'm sorry Chris Jackson (oh)
I am for real
Never meant to let Nick Saban lie
I apologize a trillion times

If we 25 spots on the table right now I could see a offer coming and be fine with that. But we have 12 and have 8 commits so far. Were sitting good with some recruits and not sure we can afford to give one up. Let's say he walks on this year and then next year we will be close to 25 scholarships. So we could afford to give him one then. That's the dream anyway though.

well, he has to sit out a year anyways, maybe we can get him qualified for the HOPE and then its a moot point

The numbers don't matter to me. Whether or not PJ wants him and can work things out to get him in school is all that's important. He won't walk on if he has offers waiting from other schools.

The question seems to me to be: In a year where we have apparently not offered a single WR, is CJ enough of a hoss to get PJ to make him an offer? He's a great talent, but we can't miss this year.
