Big day for the ACC! What are y'alls predictions/comments for the two matches?

Navy vs. Maryland @ 4PM ESPN
Virginia Tech vs. Boise State @ 8PM ESPN

Just trying to get more football talk, rather than about the other team's band, empty stadium seats, etc

I think both Navy and VPI will trump their opponents.

I think VT is going to beat Boise State. Beamer brings his guys ready to play. I don't see their defense biting on those trick plays Boise likes to call. And if they do, I don't think it will rattle them very much. They will just stick with their game plan.

I think VT is going to run, run, run. Then maybe get a little separation in the 4th quarter due to depth.
VT - 27 (33:00) Boise - 17 (27:00)

Navy will simply ****-can Maryland.
Navy 35 (42:00) Maryland 9 (18:00)

That's pretty much what I thought. Would you guys consider it a successful start to the season for the ACC if the only two ACC teams that lose are UNC and Maryland?

Considering how the UNC game turned out, it would be fantastic.

Yes, but the real test for the conference is next week. If we can come out of that weekend with only one loss (leaning towards FSU), we will do a lot to silence the critics.

Navy to beat Maryland. I think the coach has worn out his welcome at Maryland.

Virginia Tech has the material to beat Boise State. Even though Boise has a good quarterback, I think VT's quarterback may be the difference.

Father Time

Navy will dominate hapless Maryland. VT will come out ahead in a close game.

Navy 35 Maryland 7
VT 28 Boise St 24

How is vt going to stop Boise St? Boise is returning all 11 offensive starters and Vt is returning 2 def starters. Later in the season I could see vt beating them, but week 1 I think it's a 10-14 pt Boise victory.

Beamerbawl.

agree. I don't understand the VT angle in this one. I think its Boise all the way, and it could get ugly.

Doesn't seem that Maryland has any chance against Navy. And I wouldn't underestimate VPISU. I mean, I have no idea how good Boise St really is, when they really haven't played anyone except TCU (who hasn't really played anyone) and Oregon (but that was on the blue field). I think VPISU takes this one.

I agree with your reasoning. But I'm thinking the
margin being a touchdown or less in a high scoring
game (each team in the high 20's or 30's).

I'm pulling for Navy and Boise.

I like to pull for the ACC but after the way beamer
tried to turn the ACC officials against us I just
can't pull for VT. I really think their failure is good
for GT. So to hell with VT.
