I'm driving down to work this morning listening to sports talk radio, which is basically all Vols, and they're interviewing this kid Dobbs. This kid is perfectly spoken, super polite, a four star QB, from Alpharetta, and intends on majoring in Aerospace.

I'm assuming he wouldn't have fit our system, but I don't know. Sounded like he's mobile but prefers the pocket.

Regardless this kid sounded like the epitome of a Tech kid. Anybody know anything?

I am pretty sure UT's Areospace Engineering program is a front for their Moonshine Distillery Engineering program...

He was an Arizona State commit for a long time. ESPN has him as the #4 dual threat QB in the nation. My guess is he was committed, and we had Damon Mitchell so there was no reason to go after him. Switched to UT on signing day

Yeah, when you only have 5 or 6 schollies unfilled, there's no reason to go after a mere 4 star.

I want to give the coaches the benefit of the doubt, I really do.... But in state, good academic high school, engineering aspiration, and football talent? We seriously whiffed on all of those? Are we even trying/

Come on!! Listen to CPJ and forget about the rankings guys!!

Clearly we were saving those slots for shifty 5'7", 170 lbs guys with a lot of grit and heart.

Pretty simple...he's not a dual-threat QB. Just look up his profile.

He's a pocket passer that can move around a little bit for a pro style guy.

Not fast enough for a running offense.

Interesting that Butch Jones would offer then considering he does a lot of zone read stuff, which I thought was our new direction.

Seems like he's a pocket passer who can run, but not necessarily a good fit for our system. He's pretty tiny (6'3, 190), so seems to be an ill-fit for a more run heavy approach. Based on what I've read, they call him "dual threat" in the sense that, once he's dropped back to pass, he can run for a first down. Doesn't seem to be anymore dual threat than Steve Young or Aaron Rodgers.

So basically this kid is a Joshua F Nesbitt type?

These facts should end this thread. Unfortunately they won't.

What proof is there that we're moving to a zone read type offense? A new recruit not even on campus talking to the AJC?

That's lock-him-up/off-with-his-head level concrete evidence by ST standards.
