Marcus Marshall prediction

Keith was an absolute burner without the inside running game - more of a 3rd down back for the pro-set they run in Athens. He really shouldn't have gone to UGA. He'd be a stud in a spread offense, but has barely been noticeable when healthy over there. Really a waste of talent. If he had stayed close to home at UNC or Clemson he'd be a household name this season.

I'd say Marshall doesn't quite match the explosiveness of Keith's HS film (which would be tough for anybody to do) despite his obvious speed and burst. But Marshall's got size, vision, and power to run between the tackles which makes him an ideal fit for BB.

Come to think of it, how the hell did UGA miss recruiting Marshall? They offered that Crowder kid on signing day I think, but MM fits in better than Keith did to their offense. Going to be great watching him run all over them.

Welcome to uGA. How do they make any finalist lists given their history of wasting talent? Any other coach has 3-4 national championships and 2x the draft picks.

Sorry guys, I just don't see it. I looked at his hand measurements and they were not what you want from a proto-typical B-Back. Additionally his frame is a little off. He may do OK here, just because the cupboard is so bare, but if he were at a legitimate school/program he would not sniff the field.

Just being realistic.

FWIW, UGA does put a lot of players in the pros. They rank #7 in most players in the pros in 2014. 9 of the top 10 on that list have won a national title in the past 15 years. Who is the outlier in that top 10? UGA. They squander talent while in college and don't win titles.

I wouldnt say the cupboard is bare. From the reports, we have a healthy competition between the 4 BBs.

I too wondered if Marcus was a tad undersized coming in as a BB, when historically our most successful guys back there have been horses (Dwyer, Ant Allen, Days, Laskey). I guarantee you that if he doesn't jump into the 2 man rotation at BB, they'll stick him at AB at least for this year. He is talented and is good with the ball in his hands.

I dont know why any stud RB would want to go to UGA only to have them sign five more beast RBs before finding a guy like Nick Chubb? You might as well go somewhere you have a better shot at being the guy for four years (or three) rather than risk sitting behind a guy like this just when you thought it was your turn:

I'm pretty sure his post was TIC. Hand measurement was the biggest clue. I LOL'd.

I plugged Marshall's measurements into Corndog Recruiting Services LLC stat evaluation program and it printed "too short"

I just thought of something. You are stupid.

But dammit, you got me.

You must've purchased knockoff software. Due to it's success, there have been many cheap knockoffs emulating it. Corndog says that is a perfect height for a RB in this offense.

He does say that any comparison to Dwyer is bullshit though. Dwyer's combination of size and speed made him an animal at BB. To compare anyone to him based on some grainy high school film is retarded. Let him do it on Saturday before the hype train jumps the track.

I was a little worried about him being undersized but they're listing him at 5'10 200. That really isn't that undersized for a RB if those measurements are true.

Enjoyed watching his senior highlights, and pleased that only two were against East Wake, (the team with the Michigan style helmets), where my son coaches. Marcus is a great guy to have at Georgia Tech. He is smart, from a great family. His coaches loved the kid and his work ethic. As for a B-back, he does not have that lean you want to see when our B-backs need to get a tough three or four yards, he runs pretty straight up and likes to use his vision to hit the right hole with good balance. But, he can be taught. He did not put a hand on the ground and line up close to the line of scrimmage in high school. We'll see.

I like that some of his best plays were against very good teams in the playoffs. The team in all royal blue was Wake Forest, two time Eastern NC champions in our largest classification. He had some great runs against them - and they are loaded with D1 talent on their defensive line. The green and gold team was Richmond County - a perennial football power here. He led Millbrook to an upset of RC down in Rockingham.

If he does not work out at B-back, he'll be a very good A-back. Our coaches will get him blocking and he has good speed and running ability. I'll be surprised if we don't all enjoy his time on the Flats.

So.... what happened to Marcus Allen? In the spring game he impressed me...

We've created a monster,
'Cause nobody wants to see Marcus no more
They want Marshall not chopped liver

Nothing happened to him. I think he'll be the Day 1 starter and be in the rotation all season. Just a lot of talent at the position to be excited about. Marshall probably has the highest ceiling though IMHO (based on nothing but HS film and a video of Skov doing tricep curls).
