Willie Taggart Ded

Article on just have bad FSU's situation is:

The new Florida State coach is projecting to jump off a plank and hope it works out at a place that needs a DeLorean to catch up. To established coaches who preach alignment, stability and relationships, that’s a non-starter. Urban Meyer’s name shouldn’t be mentioned here, and that has nothing to do with Coburn’s clumsy “hit by a bus” comments that exposed his naïveté to the nature of coaching searches.

Meyer would be more likely to go back to the MAC than walk into the administrative mess at Florida State.

Also, Florida State finally announced a restructuring to bring the Seminole Boosters into the athletic department. This is stuff that’s kept FSU so lodged in the past, as this transition should have happened back when SMU was giving out cars to recruits.

What happens when you have this level of administrative uncertainty? You end up paying more than $3 million to hire Willie Taggart (in addition to another $1.3 million to South Florida for the remainder of that deal) and then fork over more than $20 million to buy out him and his entire staff. That’s not just expensive ineptitude, it’s historic.

Article also lists potential candidates.

I don't think James Franklin is that realistic, but either Cristobal or Rhule would be a great hire. I think Satterfield, Norvell, and Venables are the only other names on the list that would really get FSU fans excited.

I could also see FSU taking a flyer with Tony Elliot. Their AD made it absolutely clear when Taggart was hired that race played a big role in the hire and they were very excited to advance a minority coach.

Whether they will try again is anybody’s guess, but I imagine the sentiment is still there.

Darius Washington was a 3* OT that Geoff Collins offered in his limited time on the 2019 class, who flipped from Miss St to FSU at the last second and is now starting due to injuries. He's not playing superb, but pretty good for a true freshman thrust into left tackle so early. Cross your fingers for the transfer portal, because the moment contact is allowed I think we could be a really strong draw for him now.

The AD is on a seat about as hot as Taggart's was.

I think this will swing hard the other way. I think they will want a coach with legitimate head coaching success and will shy away from the intangible bullshit. Elliot wasn't even really a candidate for us. I doubt FSU wants to hire a "lets see if this guy can be a head coach" hire after their last disaster. If they get this one wrong, they will be in a world of hurt that could send the program into a death spiral.

FSU is possibly on the same coaching disaster path as Tennessee.

Really?? I would think if the AD has any hope of keeping that job he needs to stay away from the SJW train.

Florida State has a ton of advantages Tennessee doesn't. FSU is an attractive job still. Tennessee is not.
What advantages?

The talent in florida is mostly south of I4. Why is getting those kids up to tally easier than Tenn raiding Atlanta?

Tenn at least still has a state full of people wearing orange. There is probably more FSU clothing being worn proudly in the Haitian tent cities than in the state of Florida right now. Have you seen FSU attendance? Bandwagon city, no?

I guess I’m giving a lot of credence to the power of social justice causing people to make dumb decisions.
