2020 Recruiting

This is how you recruit. Even if we don’t get this player the fact that our coach stopped by will put GT on the mind of players in this area and at his school. And don’t forget the portal down the road. Recruiting is all about relationships and Collins is building those. How many brothers, cousins, etc. does this guy have who will always remember that GT came into their home with a world class offer and education. The guys Collins and Key will get on the OLine the next 4 years won’t be pushed around by many.

Southers started all year. Would you go back and pass on him so we could be 2-10 instead? Get choosy when we have a roster where his level isn't an immediate impact player.
Yes. We knew what we were getting with Southers. His job was to keep people from getting killed while helping his teammates do simple pass pro stuff.

I'm glad we had him.

You don't get many Yes's if you don't ask.

I don't mind 1 year grad transfers in a first year. But I'm less interested in a tSo. We have guys that we want coming in. I'd rather they have the schollies unless there is a really good reason to want a transfer.

Is anyone actually following what his point is?

I think in this case it is the same principle as with Southers. We bring in 6 or 7 true freshmen offensive linemen... it makes sense to get someone full grown who is a year or two older to level out the depth/seniority chart a bit. Maybe only bring in 5 or 6 true freshman plus a redshirt freshman transfer.

Not saying I want this particular guy, but if the staff wants him I'm okay. But mainly I am not a fan of random listings of transfer portal athletes who have not connected with us or are likely to specifically connect with us, and saying, "Wouldn't this guy be great? It's a position of need!"

100% agree here.

I don’t want to say we recruit over kids. But we have back ups in play for this spot. Like Morton, battle, Bermudez so we’ll get a baller at S nevertheless this year

Yeah, he was one of the ones I was expecting to decommit, considering we are in it with 3 DBs right now.
