2020 BDS Safety Protocols... Including Alcohol Sales!!

I'm just thinking from a practical/mercenary perspective, especially this year. More people=more problems, and "creating a great atmosphere" is lower than usual on the priority list. In a normal year, I'd like to believe that they want to get as many rabid GT fans into the stands (and keep out the Dwags) as possible.

I think this year its even more important than usual – a rare chance for the narrow-but-deep passion of GT fans to come through. If all stadiums are threadbare, we've got a chance to show that our 11,000 fans are more energetic than Bama's 25,000 or whatever.

Basically, it's the point of the declining marginal utility of the fanbase. And I'm hoping we can put our top 11,000 fans against any in the country. This is a chance to prove it, so to speak.

should never do anything to suppress attendance at GT games, even visitors, except for UGA fans obvs.

I'd rank the options like this:

1. Allow resales, but only to a waiting list of season ticket holders who didn't make the cut.
2. Don't allow resales at all.
----- Cutoff line for what I personally deem acceptable
3. Allow open market resales.

I'm in favor of it if it keeps season ticket holders from buying tickets with no intention of using them and reselling them to randos (assuming there's enough demand to make a profit) when other "core fanbase" folks are left out in the cold.

I understand what you're saying. My perspective is we have some die hard fans that would want the opportunity to come at least some of the games who aren't high up on the AT points. I'd really hate to totally eliminate them from the experience.

Agreed - see my #1 option in the post immediately above yours. I'm a long-time proponent of the GTAA getting involved to take care of the core fanbase and enhance the home team experience, especially since so many of our season ticket holders seem to have no qualms about selling to the enemy.

I've been to every game but 2 for several decades now. I'm probably AT pointed out.

We need the loudest, most obnoxious fans to fill the 11,000. So basically, a ST membership should grant you priority.

You should be glad to hear that, since I am no longer in that category of fan, that I opted out and donated my paid in funds the the AA. That leaves a little more room for you loud, obnoxious types,

Sad to hear that. Did you make that choice to protect your health?

I thought about it, but we need a few more data points for it to make sense.

I was #3294 on 5/27. Not sure what my rank is now. My Selection Date and Time: 8/31/2020 at 3:34 PM EST.

Disturbingly few comment about the original intent of this thread, that being: BEER AT BDS. Today is a great day.

Note as well. Masks are required except whilst patrons are eating or drinking. Just keep drinking, my friends.

Here's an updated chart based on this new data point, just for fun. Perhaps they're planning to start out slow (fewer people per hour) to test out the system and then ramp up the rate later. There's probably also some non-linearity based on who (at what AT level) opted out.

There's a leap of about 800 between 12ish and 3ish on the 31st, and only about 250 between 3ish on the 31st and 9ish on the 1st - could be that they are only adding new people between 9-4 instead of 9-5 like I'd assumed.

Just to repeat, the X-axis is cumulative number of hours in which they're adding people (assumed to be 9-5) in the selection window - I'm placing the data points in one hour blocks between 9-5 on each day.

The only thing worse than being around drunk fans is being around drunk fans of the other team. We quit going to Falcon and Braves games because we got tired of spilled beer on us. Being in the upper east, there are a lot of people for the other team in big games.

I understand there are a whole bunch of people who are happy about beer everywhere. It isn’t everyone who is glad to see it. I hope there are some sections next year set aside so people who don’t want it around them can sit there, especially with kids. With the distancing this year, it doesn’t really matter.

No alcohol sales was one of the different things about college football at GT, and bad language was the only real concern for bringing kids in. Now I hope fights in the stands aren’t as normal to see as it is at a Falcons game. There sure better be a lot more police and usher presence than there was previously, especially in the opposing seating areas. Half of our stadium filled with drinking Dawg fans is a nauseating thought.

I still don't get this argument. It's not like people aren't drinking at all and now they're all going to start because we offer alcohol sales. People that want to drink already do. Many other places that have started alcohol sales have been reporting that there are fewer alcohol related incidents and likely due to the fact that people aren't binge drinking outside the stadium just before entering and/or they are not flasking in hard liquor but instead buying beer/drinks at the game. I can't count the number of college/Pro games, Nascar, Supercross, etc. events that I've been to and I can't once remember a beer being spilled on me.

I don't drink, and I'd rather we not sell alcohol, but at least it's beer and not liquor (which I can attest from multiple visits to Miami makes things worse). I've been to innumerable college games (admittedly, most of which don't sell beer), a couple NFL games, a lot of baseball games, and more concerts than I can possibly count, and I can't think of more than one or two occasions where somebody accidentally splashed beer or any other drink on me.

I can't fathom what's going on if you're getting beer spilled on you so much that you quit going to games.

Better to have been the one spilling the beer, than to have the beer spilled on you.

I ain't paying $11 for a damn beer, which is probably what one is gonna cost
