2020 Recruiting

Been skimming their boards expecting a meltdown and was surprised to see how many are chalking you this horrific class to “anomaly of taking a small class while losing our DC.”

Nevermind that class size has nothing to do with the complete lack of top end talent and Bud announces retirement after the majority of their current class was already committed.

They need to rebound hard in the 2021 cycle. They have a highly ranked QB out of TX already committed. Curious to see if they can hang onto him b/c nobody else seems to want to go there right now.
 
First post, been a reader for long time though. Feels like today's a turning point for Tech and a good day for a first post to celebrate.

I was one of the ones who believed in the negativity around our potential to land a class like this, but in his first full year CGC has put together one of the best classes ever. Its the rate of change in the recruiting results that has my attention. I thought it was likely not possible to move the needle like this and certainly not in the first year. The results that CGC has shown on the recruiting trail has made me completely rethink the previous paradigm around the difficulties of recruiting at Tech, which we definitely have as we all know but CGC has shown we can put at least a Top20-25ish class together and that opens up a lot of options in terms of how competitive we can be given the right coaching and play calling and qb moving forward.

The recruiting results solidified today in my opinion show that the previous paradigm around 'why we can't recruit at Tech' are at least off base if not entirely untrue and we should rethink why has CGC been able to make this rapid a change so fast and why were we not able to do this before? It remains to be seen if the talent increase will show results on the field and in wins but I do think it at least changes some of the arguments I've read here and elsewhere about why Tech can't recruit and why we need to have a scheme that resembles a military academy with severe recruiting limitations. It also remains to be seen if we have another flunk gate like under CCG.

Probably thinking about this too much and what it means for the future and recent past of Tech football so I'll just enjoy it today.

I was talking to a former CPJ player today, and I asked him how he saw the recruiting class. He was very pleased.

I asked him what is so different now, and his response was "how many high schools do you think run the triple option?"

Not far from where I've been, but I've let myself drink the juice. I had plenty of fun this season despite the record. I am feeling pretty good about the ability to keep the studs on campus academically. 9 are coming in early, so they are doing pretty well academically. Also, the retention rate at Tech is 95%+ as opposed to the 33% that I experienced. I think this is in our favor, at the very least professors aren't used to failing kids.
 
Koots isn't showing up as signed LOI on either 24/7 or Rivals and they both show 24 commits instead of 25.
 
He took pictures signing something for GT yesterday. Possibly he’s a grayshirt? Regardless, he will be part of the team at some point and I’m happy to have him.
