I’m pretty sure it was determined after the knee blowout that he had sprained it earlier in the game, in which case I’d disagree

Correct. He went back into the game and got injured. Told my buddy at the game that he was done as I saw his knee buckle when he went down.

What could have been.

Remember the Clemson game the week before in a monsoon in which Hollings ran away from defenders—when you knew he was legit (not just running over creampuffs at Vandy or Uconn). The Channy/Bill O’Brien game plan wasn’t so brilliant running 5 wide in the rain so that Suggs could turn 2 and short into 3rd and long.:facepalm:

I agree. People seem to mis-remember this as if this was a blowout win and we just kept running him. We were losing the game 10-7 at halftime, and losing 19-14 starting the 4th quarter. We scored early in the 4th to take a 21-19 lead. Then Tony scored his 3rd TD of the game with 5 minutes to go to make it a 28-19 game. We got the ball back with 3+ minutes to go in the game and a 9 point game to run clock out. Yes we could've subbed for him at that point, but it wasn't nor is it still uncommon for starters to stay in at that point in a game to secure a victory. We couldn't just run the clock out without getting a first down or 2.

Yep, most starters are still typically in the game with that small of a margin. I feel like coaches today would probably be a little more cautious with a guy who had left the game with an injury earlier, especially a running back, but I don't think what Chan did was anything out of the ordinary in 2002.

Yes. I seem to think Tony was 4th string in preseason, but obviously would have risen naturally. With injuries, he played anyway.

Imagine if PJ had gone in and been injured instead of Tony. Cue the haters: "Chan is such an idiot. Anyone knows you don't bring a running back in cold like that! Now we are down another backup running back cuz the backup is hurt because he did not have time to warm up. Chan should have stayed with Tony!"

Hollings actually seemed to tweak his knee earlier in the game. He shouldn't have been out there for that many snaps.

Rivals re-ranking the Top 250 today. I expect Gibbs to shoot up into the Top 100. End up around ~10 RB and ~15 in GA.

Top 100 came out yesterday. He'll get his 4th star and be solidly in the top 250.

I’d have him 6.0/50. His senior film is absurd. There’s a reason OSU/Bama/uga - who have produced about a 3rd of the current starting RBs in the NFL - are all after him.

I would say that's why Collins in on him so hard right now (visited his home, then again at school). Really would like to see that, but past indications were that he intended to wait until February.
