2022 Spring Game - St Patty’s Day(Thursday)

So, they're prioritizing tv exposure over attendance for the spring game, too? Do we get extra money for that?

Having on TV brings more reach to fans. Thursday makes sense for students because spring breaks is the following week. If you had on Friday night or Saturday of that week then students would already be headed home or whatever... Obviously this creates issues for the working population of Tech fans.

Season ticket sales must be terrible, they pulled the spring game back a month.

TV you say......guess everyone is going to turn into us rather than the NCAA basketball tournament which starts that day. ROFLMAO

Having a popular coaching, a top rated running back, and coming off multiple 9 win seasons should get the fans excited enough to attend despite being on a Thursday, the week before Spring Break, and during the NCAA tournament.

oh wait

My understanding is Collins wanted to (1) get back to football sooner after the rough finish to last season, and (2) not have spring break disrupt spring practice. Thus he back-scheduled our practice schedule to finish the week before spring break. The players are having winter workouts now, then will have another cycle of planned workouts in the spring after they return from spring break.

So TV exposure ... for empty f'in stands ...
Ooh, come see our spring game on TV. Never mind the man behind the curtain. Or vast acres of empty seats.
What a f'n joke.
F'in brilliant. How much more of this f'in clown show must we take?

Dwindling fan base and we do everything possible to discourage fans from coming to campus and watching games? A spring game no one will attend. Will probably broadcast it on a channel the majority of the city doesn’t get. How many home games do we have next year, 5? Might as well play one of those on a Tuesday so it can be on Tv. We’re basically a sun belt program.

Per the AJC,

As for the Thursday date, the Tech athletic department will have several on-campus sporting events taking place the next day – baseball, men’s and women’s tennis, track and field and the NCAA women’s swimming and diving championships – that would make holding the spring game on the same night a logistical and staffing challenge.

Moving the game to Saturday would free it from some (but not all) of the on-campus scheduling conflicts, but it would also keep football players on campus for an extra day entering spring break.

2019 they scheduled the spring game on top of FSU baseball I think. I left the baseball game half way thru and listened on my cell if I recall correctly. For an institute that prides itself in being elite, we do some awfully dumb crap.
