But he would be less one Nole to have to contend with come next August, especially since he could have been the starter for FSU going into spring. Very curious decision. Talked to one of my Statesboro peeps and he was mystified too.

As far a I know, it depends. Many of the starters for Ohio entered the transfer portal for the Georgia Southern bowl, but some are still playing in the bowl. I know Georgia Southern's QB Beau Allen has entered the transfer portal and headed back to KY, but he will be at the bowl for GS. I am sure there are other situations but that's just one example that I'm aware of.
