It should be worse. Clemson's current DC absolutely knows how to use his jimmies and joes to beat our Xs and Os. Whether he could compete with CPJ on an even playing field is questionable, but Vennables knows exactly how to not get beaten by worse talent.

Anybody got a good unit of measure for momentum in college football? No way UCF with their pitiful talent goes undefeated last year and in the bowl game beats the team that destroyed the two teams playing for the National Championship, right? No way the 2014 team that would have lost to Georgia Southern except for an unbelievable overturn of a ref's call takes Clemson apart a couple of months later on the same field. Anyone doubt that if we'd beaten Tennessee and Miami that the Clemson and uga games would have been a lot closer last year? Sorry, beej, don't mean to pick on your post. We are at a talent deficit to many of our competition, but that's nothing new. I'd almost call it a constant. But somehow, fairly often, we get momentum on our side, and it really doesn't matter who is standing on the other side of the field. Do we get a couple of breaks early in the season to give us confidence? Do we catch a couple of teams questioning themselves? In reality, if the players can convince themselves that they are pretty good, then they will be pretty good.
