2nd worst defensive performance in GT history

Lets look at the scenarios when we kicked FGs:

Down 17-7, 4th and goal from the 6. There is no decision other than to kick the FG in this scenario.

Down 27-17, 4th and 3 from the 20. You take the FG and make it a one score game again.

Both time, we cut it from 2 scores to 1 and kept us in the game a little longer.

If you truly believe we should've done anything else in these scenarios, you are as dumb as your online persona.
We would have gone for it on fourth and three 8 years ago dumbass.

Wait... is someone actually arguing that Paul Johnson is too conservative? I still can't process the suggestion that Gailey would have been more aggressive than Johnson in any conceivable situation.

Johnson was much more aggressive his first few years. I'm not comparing Chan. It seems like older coaches lose their balls. And that's what I see in Johnson. He does not trust his offense anymore and resorts to trying to sneak the field goal team on the field. Do you not recognize that we have gone from a team that punted less than ten times in a season to what we are now?

What season did we punt less than 10 times?

Are you sure you don't have brain damage?

One that shows Johnson's skills and effort have diminished. Once you realize that it is a boat race, you don't try a field goal on 4th and 3. He doesn't believe in the offense anymore.
To make it a 7 point game, you do.

We have already demonstrated we can no longer get 3rd/4th and 1 80+% of the time like we used to. I have no problem kicking a FG to get to one score on 4th and 3.

Shooooosh....You will awaken the Coit and he will be forced to rain down his defense football knowledge on us and there will be much suffering!

When did I say we played well yesterday?

Check the poll, I'm far from alone. I'm just one of the few with the balls to speak out.

Been yelling at my TV about this for a while. Our guys look like they were trained on how to defend by looking at the opposing team's game plan and then just executing it rather than scheming around it.
I would guess we are 2-gapping. We've had stretches where we were passable at run defense and I guess this scheme can help in that situation. Not so much yesterday, of course. I wonder if we have ever tried to 1-gap this year?

Offense looked ok. Ok offense in a huge away game plus the worst defense of all time spells total team meltdown. No way you can paint this as being ok. Football is just too mean? Then maybe it was 50% ok. One of the most embarrassing performances I've ever witnessed. This is not swimming and diving.

Not even talking about just the DL, talking about LBs and safeties coming up too, even on the perimeter. Watch us "defend" a jailbreak screen to fully illuminate the problem. There was at least one against UNC and more than a handful I can remember from other teams so far this season. Our guys look like they are looking for blockers, not the ball.

It did work on the one blitz in the first half where davis and mitchell hit the same hole, one took on the blocker the other ran free. but i do agree it seems our blitzers are taught to take on contact.

Which is fine as a run blitz, but i saw chase alford run a delayed blitz and all he did was attack the play action hole and take on the rb, it is frustrating as shit to watch.
