2nd worst defensive performance in GT history

That's the dumbest ööööing thing I've ever heard.

If you have guys in a 3 on 2 and they pee their pants, how is that on coaching. You have to perform when put into those situations. The players are quoted as saying that they were in situations where they did not do what they were supposed to do. If the same stuff is still happening in two years, then make a change.

Schultz's column was even more damning. I won't post it here because I'm sure it's already been posted, but if you didn't read it yet, google "Tech's Defense is a Train Wreck", dated Nov.5.

I regret reading that article.

You said how it was on coaching:

I didn't mean coaching as far as scheme. I meant coaching as far as being in the right place at the right time. In this play, one UNC player took out two defenders which looks like one chose the wrong gap. CPJ has said variants of "we're asking our defensive players to do too much," similar to what Groh did.

If there's any case for keeping Roof, it is that he would make a marked change to preach execution and have a simpler scheme. But the 2014 defense had similar issues to this defense. In the UNC game that year, UNC had a long throw against man coverage which should have been a sack but the blitz went to the wrong gap.

Did he make the change?
