I'm not ready to give TStan that much credit. But you are right in that it might play out like that.

With this bullet maybe dodged, it will be really hard to totally screw it up from here? Collins or Elliott, most people can get behind. And either one would jump at the chance.

I don't understand why a college coaching search is so serial. Interview one guy, offer one guy. Then repeat upon failure. Why not interview 3 guys quickly and offer your first choice, then your second....?

Given our current options, we're only getting 3 years with our next coach. If I had to prioritize:

Elliott - 100% chance he leaves for a bigger program but he can recruit
Collins - 50/50% he leaves for a bigger program or gets fired but he can also recruit (just not as well)
Whisenhunt - 100% chance he gets fired for performance

Can't help but post this for you clowns to chew on. Anyone, and I mean anyone who is pissed off about potentially having Ken Whisenhunt as the next GT head coach over Satterfield, Tony Elliot, any other 3O coach not named Johnson, or even Geoff Collins is a ööööing dumbass. Like next level stupid.

Whisenhunt isn't Gailey. Go listen to the guy sometime. He clearly has a charisma about him that is needed as a Head Coach and potential recruiter. He learned under Bill Cowher!!! who is arguably one of the top 5 coaches in the last 25 years in professional football! He helped develop Ben Rothlisberger AND Phillip Rivers. In fact Rivers under Whisenhunt is having one of his better career years. This is not like Chan Gailey. NFL QB's couldn't stand Gailey most notably Troy Aikman who ultimately got Gailey fired from Dallas. We should be lucky as hell we could get the Whiz!

You guys want to shit on a GT connected coach at the highest level for a head coach at an FCS school, a young OC at Clemson who hasn't done shit, and a recent head coach at a mid major? If Collins turns out to be our coach I will not be disappointed, but all of you poo pooing Ken Whisenhunt are öööö tards of the highest level. This is in a nut shell why I stopped posting over here because the IQ of the average fan on Stingtalk is level pathetic. You guys are still funny, and I enjoy reading on occasion but anyone up in arms against the Whiz is next level stupid.

but seriously, if KW hadn't attended/coached at Georgia Tech, you'd be upset that he was the frontrunner, especially if it seemed like it was his job all along and no others were seriously considered. His connection to GT just doesn't mean much to most of us.

I am just posting to be funny. If he is our new HC, so be it. I'm more pissed at the ACC for screwing us over in a bowl. And Belk. Screw Belk. And ööööing not being able to bring a snack and a drink into our game. I'm pissed at that.

When I went down to the SB in Houston a few years back for the game we won't talk about, some friends and I were checking out the "Official" Falcons Tailgate or whatever and came across a backdrop for pictures and a guy standing there. We asked him to take our picture and he looked confused. It was then that we realized it was Brian Finneran and the backdrop was meant for fans to take pics with him. We still got him to take our pic and moved along, bc who the f wants a pic with mediocre pro Brian Finneran? Wasn't even aware of his disdain for CPJ, the 3O, and GT at the time, but f that guy.

If Whiz was Gailey i'd feel better about him. Make your same argument again for Gailey and change the names around. You can even still link in Cowher! OMG!

But Whiz doesn't have any college resume, unlike Chan. If you think that doesn't matter, then I say you are f*** tard. That's just like, my opinion, man.

Not only this, but it is hard to find examples of NFL coaches going to college programs and having a lot of success. Once the good ones get to the NFL they stay in the NFL.

So in your mind for a coaching job, pro experience >>> 3 coaches currently working at the college level? I'm not hating on Whisenhunt, but I'm not convinced he should be the clear front-runner as your post seems to imply. Collins had a pretty impressive year and is doing it at a school that has historically been such an afterthought that they were kicked from a league. Plus he's been at Tech and would have a pretty good idea of what exactly he'd be getting himself into. Elliot is the bigger gamble, I think his background is what people see as great potential, a high risk high reward type hire. Satterfield is off the table at this point anyway.

If Whisenhunt is the choice, it will come down to whether he believes he will get an NFL head coaching position in the off season. I am happy with most of the possibilities listed. Every one will be a gamble.
I am concerned about the transition for Whisenhunt. The assistants will be critical. On the other hand, coaching Warner, Big Ben and Rivers should impress recruits particularly QB's. His record with the Titans is irrelevant. He had less than two seasons to turn things around with a rookie QB. The Titans will not spend the money to be competitive. He was supposedly fired because Mariotta was not being protected. Two coaches later Mariotta is being sacked at a record pace.
