Never said that or even hinted at it. I’m simply pointing out the obvious - a RB who will be drafted playing in a mid to late December bowl game won’t happen. The head coach wouldn’t let him and his dad wouldn’t let him and frankly no GT fan should want him to play. Taking a risk in losing millions to play in a game no one will remember a week later is just dumb. The old days are over. You act like Gibbs is the front runner for the Heisman or something.
If you've been following, it isn't how they played the schedule. It's the fact that it's weak ass to begin with.It looks like you cherry picked Bama's worst team in like eleventy seven years.

Who said that? Its the exact opposite argument. Players are transferring by the boatload for two of the same reasons Gibbs would play in a bowl game THIS YEAR. (1) to play not ride pine (2) for increased exposure. You are correct - “the vast majority”. But not every player.
Which is why you will see even more and more players opt out or get that phantom injury. This was the same argument many made regarding the transfer portal. Many posted, “it’s only 1 or 2 players and won’t be a big deal”. Three years in and about 1/3 of our starters will have come from the portal.
Is Gibbs a lock to be drafted at the end of this year or does he have to play another year before he is draft eligible? Even if someone is a lock to be drafted a full year before they are eligible, they would have to be really dumb to skip the bowl game. NFL scouts watch and factor in the bowl games. It is an important game to increase your draft status. And yes, any player who is a sure lock to get drafted will find reasons to sit after his team is out of it. The players have finally figured out they are being used by the schools and are just a replaceable commodity so they are making decisions based on what is best for their future. They all remember Marcus Lattimore and many others.
You’ll see this year when even more players than last year skip out on bowl games. And if you think NFL scouts will put any weight on a meaningless bowl game for a player who is already proven then you don’t get it. Sure, for the tweener type it is important to be seen one last time, but for the legit proven guys their draft status is not affected by a Pinstripe Bowl appearance. What about the senior bowl then? Why don’t the high end guys take part of that process where actual NFL coaches are with them for a 9-10 day period? It’s because by that point they are a known commodity and don’t want to risk injury. We aren’t use to dealing with this but Collins is bringing in enough 4 stars that we’ll be dealing with this just like most bigger programs do.Who said that? Its the exact opposite argument. Players will opt out of the bowl game the year they are eligible to be drafted. It will be extremely rare to opt out the years before that.
In fact, with NIL, opting out is going to get rarer. Some of these NIL deals will have clauses related to actually playing to get paid.
I see it as a positive for the next season. If it happens, the potential next season starter(s) get an opportunity to perform against a quality opponent. You’ll see this year when even more players than last year skip out on bowl games. Agreed. The real benefit to a bowl game these days outside of a major bowl is team practice. With so many young guys recruited by Collins another 3 weeks of practice after UGA would be beneficial.I see it as a positive for the next season. Answer the question. Is Gibbs eligible for the draft this year? You’ll see this year when even more players than last year skip out on bowl games. And if you think NFL scouts will put any weight on a meaningless bowl game for a player who is already proven then you don’t get it. That’s a valid question and is why players have begun sitting out seasons. The first rounder from LSU did it last year. Hoopers are doing it. Listen, if you haven’t been paying attention I know this comes as a shock and is against everything we’ve all cone to believe growing up. But it’s here, just like players now playing for 2-3 teams throughout a college career. It’s already happening and will only increase like the portal. Did you see how many UGA players skipped their bowl game last year? I’m not saying Gibbs will skip a season, but bowl games mean even less than a Thursday night game against NC State. They are meaningless scrimmages. If players start opting out of games years before they are draft eligible then what is the point of playing another season?
Gibbs was held out last year because he was injured most of the year. Not even close to the same thing. No he is not eligible this year for the draft. But why in the world would he play in a game that means nothing? Heck, they held him out at the end of last season when nothing was on the line so they’d do it again, He’s the guy Collins will point to when he’s drafted for recruiting so no way Collins risks his future for an exhibition game. Keep in mind, this happens all the time but it normally happens under the guise of a hammy or knee twinge or is precautionary. Let me ask you this - what benefit does he gain by playing in the Pinstripe Bowl? The scouts know the deal.
I’m already forgetting what type of injury it was. Do you know?Gibbs was held out last year because he was injured most of the year. Not even close to the same thing.
No Georgia Tech game means anything after we are eliminated from the ACC CG, and no ooc game matters after two total losses. UGA is an exhibition game for us for the last 30 years, but no man sits that out willingly. You keep saying the bowl matters less than random games and that is demonstrably untrue. Players have more opportunity to be seen by scouts in a bowl game than in a random game. Furthermore, it is important to understand the reality that bowls attempt to match up teams at a comparable competition level, which makes the player performance more valuable than if it was against an overmatched or dominant team.No he is not eligible this year for the draft. HammyI’m already forgetting what type of injury it was. Do you know?
He wasn’t held out due to draft reasons. He was held out because there was no reason to play our franchise player in meaningless games. Just like how he won’t play in a meaningless bowl game. You telling me he wouldn’t have played if we were in the playoffs? Of course he would have because those games are meaningful. No Georgia Tech game means anything after we are eliminated from the ACC CG, and no ooc game matters after two total losses. However what is most interesting is you choose "NCState on Thursday" as your comparison to the "meaningless" bowl. NCState on Thursday is a special game, not an average game. The Thursday games get players way more visibility than a Saturday nooner. And NCState is a competitive team, neither a doormat or a goliath. A player would be really stupid to skip that game even if GT is not in contention for the ACCCG.
Also you are ignorant if you think we held Gibbs out of games for draft status reasons. Toodaloo.
So he was not injured at all? They lied and said he was? Interesting. He wasn’t held out due to draft reasons. He was held out because there was no reason to play our franchise player in meaningless games. Just like how he won’t play in a meaningless bowl game.
