ACC, B1G, and Pac-12 alliance announcement- I fixed it

Yeah, our players really showed an interest in our last bowl game. In case you haven’t noticed players are skipping meaningless bowls and it’s only going to get worse. And what Tech fans were po’d we weren’t in a bowl game after winning 3 games? If we win 7 games this year and go to a worthless bowl in late December I won’t be thrilled we are bowling, I’ll be thrilled that the team gets to practice for a few more weeks and I’ll enjoy watching our team for another 3 hours. But, it’s not like I won’t be able to sleep the night before because of the anticipation. And something tells me a guy named Gibbs would probably get a hammy in practice leading up so he wouldn’t play. And the coaches would be correct in doing that.
You can sleep. I won’t. To win 7 with a chance at 8 would be amazing.

Well, you’re an idiot, but I’ll explain why:

1. Our last bowl game was with a lame duck coach. Of course the players weren’t thrilled about playing. They had checked out midway through the season.
2. Tech fans weren’t pissed we missed a bowl after winning 3 games. They were kissed we only won 3 games and weren’t good enough to play in a bowl game.
3.The only players skipping bowls are those with some NFL aspirations. Also screw them forquitting on their team.
4. if you’re not freakin ecstatic that we make ANY bowl game this year, that solidifies the fact that you’re an idiot.

EDIT: and a guy like Gibbs isn’t skipping a bowl game in his second season at Tech.

I agree, but that's the exact reason you can't say the SEC as a conference is head and shoulders above the others. How would the top teams in the other conferences fare playing those top SEC team's schedules? Look at Alabama 2019 - Duke, New Mexico St., USC(e), Ole Miss, So. Miss, A&M, Tenn, Ark, LSU (loss), Miss St., W. Carolina, Auburn (loss). How would any top team (or mediocre one) do?
I look at it as how would their #1 fair versus ours. And so on down the line.

It looks like you cherry picked Bama's worst team in like eleventy seven years.

So you think if we make a low tier bowl game this year that Gibbs will play? You are wrong and with 3 other quality backs there is no way he would play. If Collins let him play and the unthinkable happened Collins would get crushed. Collins isn’t that dumb. I hope for recruiting purposes and practice sake we get a bowl game but not because playing in the Pinstripe bowl would be awesome. You should be prepared for GT players skipping bowl games in the future and then calling them quitters while you watch them on Sundays.

Gibbs will absolutely play in whatever bowl game we make. No, Collins would not get crushed for playing Gibbs or anyone else in a bowl game no matter how “meaningless” it is to you. Because a win is still looked on as a win and a loss is still a loss - and that affects recruiting.

just go ahead and say it, you suck as a fan. That’s what this boils down to.

I guess we’ll just half to wait until the end of next season to see. I’ll be here and will eat my words if Gibbs plays. And there is absolutely no way he plays after next year since the draft will be looming. No way unless we are in the playoffs.

If this goes through I wonder how long it takes the SEC to scrap the NCAA and change total players/recruits a year? They could go to like 150 and really hurt these conferences.

"I guess we’ll just half to wait . . . ."

Well, at least now I believe you're an engineer. :lol2:

The turnaround required for Tech to win 7 this year would be amazing. If you can’t see that, you’re an idiot.

A 3 win team winning 7 of 12 when the 12 include #3, #5, #9, #10, #14 would be pretty damned amazing but at the very least the margin for error is non-existent.

Stop with the stupid as crap posts.

Stop.

By the argument that the Bowl game is meaningless, what game after you lose two isnt just as meaningless? Why would Gibbs play any game after we have been eliminated from the playoffs?

Bowl games are very meaningful to the vast majority of players, including everyone who is not draft eligible.

How so?

How would splitting off completely hurt the other conferences?

I think the SEC apologists seem to be missing out on the dynamics here. Is the SEC the SEC without the rest of the BCS teams? In my mind they become a nothing without the 'national' mystique.

Is there an analogy? Does the Champions League need the English teams more than the English teams need the Champions league?

Maybe a very close analogy is EUFA and the World Cup. The World Cup would suffer sure if the Europeans were not included. BUT, nobody would elevate the EUFA champion to world champion, even if there is a very high likelihood they are the best team in the world.

Those high SEC ratings across the country? Gone if that is a different league entirely. Who needs who more? It seems obvious the SEC needs the rest of the BCS teams more than the BCS teams need the SEC.

If the PAC/BIG/ACC play hardball, they can drive concessions from the SEC. The only real counter from the SEC would be to pick off the material teams from those leagues. If the SEC snagged Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, USC(w), UCLA, Clemson, and a few others then they are the national champs.

If the PAC/BIG/ACC have a playoff with ND and the rest of the BCS teams, it will be a national competition. In marked contrast with the regional SEC championship.

I don’t think we are talking about the same thing.

Wrong. The SEC would get even more of the high end players because they will market themselves as the NFL draft league. The other leagues will take a step back. If you think players really care about winning titles, etc you again are wrong. It‘s all about the money. Coaches, fans , and alums care about titles but 18-23 year olds care about getting drafted. Go ahead and give Michigan the title of National Champion then see how many players they get drafted in comparison to Bama or UGA or Oklahoma.

You are correct - “the vast majority”. But not every player.

Which is why you will see even more and more players opt out or get that phantom injury. This was the same argument many made regarding the transfer portal. Many posted, “it’s only 1 or 2 players and won’t be a big deal”. Three years in and about 1/3 of our starters will have come from the portal.

And yes, any player who is a sure lock to get drafted will find reasons to sit after his team is out of it. The players have finally figured out they are being used by the schools and are just a replaceable commodity so they are making decisions based on what is best for their future. They all remember Marcus Lattimore and many others.

You act like Gibbs is the front runner for the Heisman or something.
