ACC ded

What until Dabo Swinney’s recruiting classes are put under scrutiny by Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, and some bigwig SEC coaches. They will sick the NCAA on him and he will be put in his place. You have to remember, Georgia Tech had an overall winning record against Clemson until about 10 years ago. Clemson is no powerhouse. And Florida State is a very little school that with a rare exception died with Bobby Bowden. I still remember Oregon destroying them. They will never be great again.
We still have a winning record against Clemson.

I think it would be insanely hypocritical for any SEC school to try to attack Dabo and Clemson for anything, when they are guilty of doing worse things themselves.

If we go to the BIG then I won't be attending any away games. No way in hades I'm driving up to MI or OH. I still think the SEC fits us best. I think the ACC needs to grow a pair and step it up and start winning in all big TV sports (FB, BB, Baseball, etc). We win, we get on TV = more $$.

They don't care if they hypocrites. They care if they win. It's just a contest to see who has more pull with the NCAA. That's why UNC can have pretend classes for athletes and get off scott-free and we have wins vacated for a guy getting a t-shirt.

This is the reason I'm rather surprised by the conference realignment. The money is drying up, so I expect that the next contracts will have a lower dollar / school agreement. Why would the SEC or B10 expand if the share of the money goes down? ESPN's cuts seem like a clear indication that the end of the crazy money is already here.

You could be right that the absolute pie of money won't be expanding (immediately). However, it could just be a redistribution of the pie in the sense that ESPN/FOX/CBS, et. al bid top dollar for the SEC/Big and the remaining conferences get a much smaller number instead.

Of course, as I've posted before, the wildcard is if a streaming service wants live sports, which could drive up the money the conferences get.

Does GT have any history with B1G schools? Other than OSU/Mich/PSU, are any of those other matchups particularly exciting to anyone? At least in the ACC we are playing teams we’ve played against for decades (usually) and we are somewhat neighbors. I’m picturing us playing Minnesota or Wisconsin or Northwestern and I don’t think there’s much rivalry/animosity/competition there right? I guess it beats going down to G5 but if the ACC is sticking around I’d rather stay. Give me a matchup vs VT or Duke any day over those smaller B1G schools

It's not about the matchups. Give me that B1G money over the ACC money any day. That's the only way we even try to catch up to the bigger guys.

Instead of everyone trying to figure out how to leave, the conference members should be focusing their resources on figuring out how to get more money out of ESPN or from other broadcast services. Would be a lot more productive IMO

The ACC staying as is, as a P5 conference together for the long term, is pretty clearly the best case scenario for us.

The reason people are wanting is to jump ship is that seems extremely unlikely. At the first chance, the heavy hitters in the ACC are likely to leave, and at that point the ACC essentially ends up as a G5 conference.

I'm not so sure it is best case, unless like others suggested the ACC can re-negotiate with ESPN and get a better TV deal. As it stands, all ACC schools will be making at minimum $30M less ANNUALY than SEC and B1G schools make off of TV contracts.

Duke and Clemson are the only ACC schools we have played against long term.

If we do not increase the funding from the conference, we cannot succeed.
