Harvard and Yale are 'misers' and won't let anything athletic 'touch' their endowments. They are power and money hungry and woke.
Hard to believe ncsu voted with unc on anything
Cal and Stanford both have long-time, accomplished football (and basketball) programs. They have 7 football national titles between them.
Haha. Stanford was good at football recently though... Andrew Luck, Christian McCaffrey. Multiple 10+ win seasons. 10 straight 8+ win seasons from 2009-2018.When I think of Cal and Stanford the first thing I think about is multiple national titles and football excellence. No, actually it's just the 1928 Rose Bowl and the way Stanford's equestrian and marksmanship teams keep them at the top of the Sears cup standings.
The schools voting No are the schools that want out, and see the ACC folding as their best way to get themselves to another conference. They don’t want to see the conference solidified with more teams. Why do the 4 vote no? Travel?
Is Stanford a bastion of anti-wokeness?
Pretty sure whatever happens with UNC is going to happen to NCST. Those are both big state schools with large fanbases. You can argue national perception or all kinds of other irrelevant metrics that don't matter. Any FOOTBALL conference that chooses to expand is only going to diminish one without taking the other imo. Same thing with UCLA/USC.
I agree to some extent but the money differences are huge. When it comes to the football side of things (separated from the $$$ aspect, that is easy to see the incentives) this seems like people are looking at things, while acknowledging this is a dynamic situation, as if it were static. "It would be awesome, as school XYZ, we got into the SEC". But the SEC you get into, let's say 20+ team SEC is not going to be like being in the SEC today. It will be different, perhaps drastically so. Maybe the grass is greener, maybe things turn out to be surprisingly different once you are there. Maybe you expect to get some sort of benefit of the doubt because you are in the great SEC. At some point though the answer is going to be "Yeah, you are in the SEC, so is everyone else. No soup for you." UNC for example, other than the $$$ part, do things get better for them football wise. These large conferences, if it goes that way are going to have to suffer from the effects of dilution in some way. That doesn't mean there is an answer, there may not be. Really, this whole thing is ööööed. I think schools are going to find out that their new girlfriend is indeed actually a whore, one that used to be the hot girl before she became a whore, but now she's a whore and she's all yours, congrats.

How woke are Stanford and Cal?
One must ask the question; If Cal and Stanford bring so much value and prestige, why the the BIGX and BigXIi both completely pass over them and court the other PAC12 schools?Harvard and Yale are 'misers' and won't let anything athletic 'touch' their endowments. It's a good and fair question. They are not the first picks from remaining P5 teams but they are left. Neither Big12 or BigI conference could or wanted to go above 18. In the case of Big12 their TV deal wouldn't let them or every other member would suffer. For the BIG10, Oregon and Washington are taking a haircut and how many more could they say take a haircut and we will bring you to full membership later. Two was it.One must ask the question; If Cal and Stanford bring so much value and prestige, why the the BIGX and BigXIi both completely pass over them and court the other PAC12 schools?
They haven’t even won an ACC championship since 1980. If the SEC takes them, it won’t be to compete for championships. It will be because somebody has to take the losses.UNC for example, other than the $$$ part, do things get better for them football wise.

I live in RDU (hence the name) and can definitely see this happening.Yep. Word on the street is that NC State was strong armed to vote with the tar holes by either their BOR or some higher state power.
I don't see it. UNC fits the Big Ten better than the SEC. The schools are much better. Certainly the SEC and Big Ten will take UNC but my guess is that UNC is headed for the Big Ten and it seems, with FSU and Clemson. I have to believe that UVA follows shortly thereafter. (UNC in the SEC is foolish; they are not going to like Birmingham controlling their destiny. See Missouri.)
I think the deal is for NCS to get into the SEC with VPI.
Agree with this. They have their way with the ACC and the Tobacco Road people. They would be stepping in as the stepchild in the SECI don't see it. UNC fits the Big Ten better than the SEC. Tobacco road is one of the golf courses that has the motorcycle golf carts and, for that reason, I think everyone associated with it should burn in hell.Agree with this. They have their way with the ACC and the Tobacco Road people. They would be stepping in as the stepchild in the SEC
