ACC Standings & Bowl Hierarchy …

The ACC Champion will almost certainly be in the College Football Playoff and likely get a first round bye. After that, it's all determined on how many other ACC teams get into the expanded CFP. As always, this will be be based on geography and best matchups. The conference vs conference tie-ins can be changed based on availability. If at all possible, repeat appearances from the previous season will try to be avoided.

1. Notre Dame is eligible for any of the ACC's bowl slots, if they are not selected for the CFP.

2. The former Pac-12 teams - Cal nd Stanford - will remain eligible for the former Pac-12 bowl ties and affiliations. That means if any of those four aren't in the College Football Playoff, they'll be eligible for the Alamo, Independence, Holiday, LA, Las Vegas, and Sun bowls.

I'd love that Gator Bowl

I think GT wins out and earns the Mayo Bowl.
GT will never ever ever ever play in that bowl game. Their preference:
Notre Dame
Anybody from North Carolina
Clemson or Virginia Tech or Florida State
Virginia

They've never had to choose a further down preference than Virginia.

They pay their money into the conference coffers to get that choice. The problem isn’t letting the Mayo bowl pay for their preference. The problem is the lack of interest in the southeast for ACC bowl teams.

BC and Cuse aren’t going to be good draws in the SE. Pitt isn’t much better.

The ACC should get rid of the restrictions on who can get picked. And GT, UVa, and NCSt need to get better on the field and stay that way. Duke and Wake don’t matter. They don’t have the fanbase to support decent bowls.

Oh, and the music city bowl needs to get their head out of their ass and recognize when they sell tickets. It isn’t uva, bc, or any of the NC schools.
