Jeff Bourne, James Madison. Was at Tech previously.

" was senior associate athletics director at Georgia Tech from 1997-99. At Georgia Tech, he supervised finance, marketing and promotions, ticketing, sports information, and radio and television broadcasts and production. He also was liaison to the Alexander-Tharpe fund"

I'm first in line to say no more litmus test for finding a "Tech Man", but his record at James Madison, Virginia Tech and Ga. Tech is an add since he knows the challenges.

This guy and Curt Cignetti as a package deal would be fantastic. JMU athletics have navigated conference alignment very well relative to some of their CAA counterparts and have made smart improvements to their football program. I would support this.

Cignetti is too old. If Key is able to go .500 he probably gets the job and he should.

Cignetti is 61. To put that in context, Sam Pittman is 60, and is killing it at Arkansas.

So that makes Pittman around 58 when Arkansas hired him. Pittman had also been an AHC at the P5 level for about a half dozen years including at Arkansas. Cignetti is older and hasn't been in the P5 in over a decade. If we are going to roll the dice, roll the dice on someone younger.

No he should not. Have you seen the o line these past 4 years? Last game included.

I have been as hard on him for the OL the past 3.5 years as anyone on the board. $600k/year for a crap OL; but if he can HC effectively I don't care what he did as a position coach. It would be like saying I don't want Bill Elliot as a driver because he missed spots washing my car.

I would have to think Jeff Monken is on the table then. Oh. My. Goodness.
Monken ain’t dumb enough to come to Tech. But I’m for the AD hire anyway just to watch heads explode at the prospect of Monken. Could be weeks of fun before the next HC is hired.

This was Pittman’s first ever head coaching job

Let's see how the Duke game goes before we all start polishing his knob.

A Duke win would be nice; but I am waiting to see what he does after the bye week. What I was saying in that post was I won't kick him out as a head coach candidate because of how the OL has played the past 3.5 years. For all we know Geoff was goofing up the OL practices. I definitely want to see a few more wins and no embarrassing blowout losses.

Cignetti is a young 61. And I think he would be a great foundation builder and then turn it over to a young pup type coach. It’s 2022. 60 is the new 45.

Going back to the post I commented on originally, I wouldn't consider going .500 good coaching. Especially considering the recent o line performance that has his name all over it.

Greene's contract was coming up at the end of the last football season. He asked for a new contract in September, and they told him he would have to wait. Harsin was already catching heat. So, he asked to negotiate a buy out to leave immediately. Auburn agreed.

Thank you, that resignation finally makes sense to me. I assume Greene was involved in the Harsin hire. Guess the question then is whether we'd want the guy who hired Harsin at Auburn. From what I hear Harsin isn't a good cultural fit and his performance has been mediocre there--downgrade from Malzahn.
