Any News On The Status Of Sim?

Right now the only thing Sims has on Pyron is the ability to get out of the pocket quicker and perhaps gain more yards when it's time to leave the pocket. Pyron is a much, much better passer.

As I said before, Pyron has the tools and I believe he can be, but to say he "is a much, much better passer" is a stretch at this point. It's a good showing but not overly impressive putting up 250 yds on 60% completion rate with a 1/1 TD/INT ratio against the 2nd worst defense we've played this year per FEI ratings. He has also had some moments just like Jeff where he's thrown it straight to a defender but they missed the pick. I'm not saying Pyron is bad and I'm also not saying he won't be better than Jeff in the end, but some of you take things to the extreme with a very limited sample size.

Sims has a pretty big sample size of not that great performances against bad teams. He also has a big sample size of games in which he just doesn’t want to go play.

If Sims is on his athleticism really makes a difference …. ask last year’s UNC team and Duke and Pitt from this year. If he’s not on we definitely have a capable alternative. Also, it would be nice to preserve Pyron’s redshirt but not at the expense of making a bowl. Of course I doubt there is any news because we need to keep Miami in the dark. If Sims cannot use his wheels then Pyron would definitely be the choice.
Stop with the stupid redshirt preservation talk. You'e embarrassing yourself.

I don't have the football IQ to debate the point but in the little bit I have seen, I have observed that Pyron scans the field for opportunities more effectively than Sims. I dunno - there is something about Pyron's field awareness that seems a notch or two higher than Sims. The only NFL team I watch is the Washington Commanders and see similarities between Pyron and Heineke. Just an intangible knack for making the correct run/pass decision and/or where to put the football and what kind of throw to make (dart vs lob, for example).

I'm not under the illusion that Pyron has wrenched the starting job from Sims but I sure am happy that, for the first time in a long time, we have serious talent in the QB depth chart - maybe the best since Joe Ham and George Godsey.

You have a big sample size of that being just your opinion. You have zero knowledge how bad his injury is.

I agree here, and we'll see soon enough if Pyron can keep it up... and you seem to not be one of them but there are so many that are already ready to crown him QB1 then when he goes out and has a bad game they'll be throwing him under the bus with Gibson.

...when [insert name of savior of program here] goes out and has a bad game they'll be throwing him under the bus with [name of fan favorite to pick on].
A time-honored tradition if there ever was one.

Pyron Makes better reads on keep or handoff reads too imo

We have a losing problem. I think if the OL does what they should then all 3 QBs are serviceable. I still like Pyron when the OL is clicking.

Some of y’all are holding onto hopes from 3 years ago and just don’t want to see reality. Sims is a below average college QB. Currently ranked 13th out of 14th in the ACC. The days of what he could become are long gone. Norvell has been proven correct. And not for nothing for the 2nd year in a row the guy just disappears during the most crucial parts of the season. I will say this, he was the perfect QB for Collins system.
