Auburn has found itself a coach

Wow. Glad to see racism still alive and well in Alabama.

Now now. This decision was not motivated by racism so much as narcissism. Clearly since Chizik was an Auburn man before (DC 02-04), it means he is far better than anyone who has never been at Auburn at some point. Why do you think Paddy Nix was in the running?

I don't know. I usually roll my eyes whenever the BCA makes a big deal about some school not hiring a minority coach, but this is pretty suspect. They interviewed at least two black coaches whose credentials, at least to me, blow this dude out of the water. Garner (an AUBURN alum at that) even came out and said he would love to be their next coach, so I know he didn't turn it down.

The implosion on the auburn rivals board right now is fantastic. What a horrible hire. Tuberville should be laughing all the way to the bank.

I remember a bunch of folks laughing at our hire of PJ last year, but at least he had won everywhere he went.

I just don't see how Auburn could have come to that conclusion. Don't fire someone if you don't have his replacement ready.

Good luck Auburn!!!:laugher:

Insane.

Wow, they're going to be begging Tubbs to come back a year from now. Tubbs firing and the subsequent Chizik hiring is the administrative equivalent of telling your hot wife you can do much better just because the neighbor has a rock star wife. Divorcing her only to later find out she was the best you could do, but at that point you're too proud to admit you were wrong so you just end up with an old high school girlfriend who is washed up, but hey at least she was part of your past...the whole thing is hillarious.:laugher:

Better hope Chizik doesnt have a buyout. Otherwise when they go 4-8 next year and can him, they're on the hook for another 5+ M

I went on the Auburn board a couple of weeks ago and said they had no chance at Paul Johnson.

I was told by the majority of them:
"We'll take him if we want him. You should pray every night we don't want your coach."

This was pretty funny at the time, but its even funnier now.

Cheers to all you GT fans who were worried. Like I said, AUBURN IS NOT a better program than GT.

Actually Auburn better hope he does have a buyout and that's it's small. Chan's contract didn't have a buyout, so DRad had to negotiate with Chan on the price of Chan agreeing to end his contract. The offer pretty much let him not work and earn the same salary.

Chan didn't agree to end his contract willingly. Chan was fired against his will. As I understood it, DRad felt like we needed to honor Chan's contract inspite of firing him, which means we paid him for the 4 years remaining.

FloridaJacket,

The Birmingham AU beat writer reports $2M/year for 5-6 years in his blog.

Your reaction is still highly appropriate. :laugher::lol::roflmao:

And all the Auburn fans are.....

:crybaby:

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if Chan had to agree to not coach even if he was still being paid his salary.
