I know. They will try again.
They can try again all they want to at lowering entrance requirements, but until they do something about the weather in SB there's not a chance in hell
of Meyer leaving!:laugher:

You gotta wonder what the Black coaches assoc. is saying now. Especially with AU's hire, that's a slap in Turner's face.
Be interesting is ISU goes after CTG now.
That organization is down to what, 4 head coaches now? Its crazy to think football, which is at least 50% black in its players only has 4 out of 120 positions. There needs to be something done about that, I am just not sure what to do.
....
But I think Turner Gill could, if he wanted to, file a racial discrimination lawsuit against Auburn and maybe win. I bet he'll take the ISU job instead, considering he played at Nebraska and knows the territory.
What the Black head coach's assoc. needs right now is a black head coach who is a success. Not a coach who takes a bad high profile job out of desparation.
He would be an idiot if he did! UF has got to be one of the top coaching situations in the nation. IMOMeyer has called ND his dream job. You keep thinking he won't leave given the right opportunity.

The problem is grad assistants. They get paid almost nothing, so they are predominately white ex-football players who have enough money (often family support) to make it through the lean first two years. The NFL doesn't have this problem, as NFL assistants get paid more. Hence, on a per capita basis, there are more black coaches in the NFL than college.
+1. No need for affirmative action. Just pay grad assts 30K a year.

Why not stay on at Iowa State, build the program and then market yourself. Auburn is going to eat him alive and may end up ruining his career.
You can "ruin" my career all day long if you pay me what he's gettin'.!!!

Sir Charles is upset about this hire: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3770769
He makes some good points, but I dont agree with his point about black coaches only getting "SH***Y" jobs.
Karl Dorrel- UCLA
Ty Willingham- ND, Wash, Stanford
Sly Croom- Miss St
Randy Shannon- Miami
Ron Prince- K State
Last time I checked those were all great jobs except for maybe Stanford and Miss St. However, Stanford is very prestigious Pac10 school and Miss St was a perennial Top 20 team in the mid-late 90's. Both of those schools have the potential to be consistent bowl teams.
I do hope more black coaches get into Div I so that one day race is not even mentioned in discussions like this.
