bad news

Well f*ck! God dammit ever heard of fighting through adversity and tough times? Jesus Christ. All this lack of commitment to GT from our current players and our COMMITTED recruits is really pissing me off and it hurts deep down that they feel they can just crap on our beloved school and team.

Anytime, any school, you change coaches you lose players. It affects us even more so at Tech because we never have a lot of depth.

It why coaching transitions are so tough here.

If Peek goes to the Gators, he will not see the field again (except kickoffs or something like that); UF is loaded with talent. So that's a dumbass decision if it's true.

Once they find out how many course credits won't transfer, some will lose interest.

but if a team fires their head coach, a player can transfer without having to sit a year.

Players must sit out a year when transferring to another D1-A school whether their coach was fired or not. Fact.

Unless they transfer to a lower division school. However, most will sit anyway due to the talent already standing in line at the other school.

I find it hard to believe theses kids do not want to be part of something great !!! I say, let them go in peace, because they will regret the day they do !

The only ones who get a free pass (without having to sit out a year) are those who have signed a LOI.

There is always thoughts of transfer for freshman and sophomore who haven't redshirted. But everyone else will really take it on the chin if they transfer. Those who have already redshirted will permenantly lose a year of eligibility if they transfer.

Those who transfer as a junior or senior are screwed because it will take another year of school to graduate due to loss of credits.

The only real choice for most is to go to a lowere division school if they want to transfer...

Is Albert Rocker on the complete outs with the team and school? If not, he may want to reign in what he ok's for this board. Just my opinion.

Regarding the transfer talk, Tech is a pretty stressful place on its own for most and even moreso for athletes. And that is in the good times.
College athletes have ex high shool teammate friends at other programs and they all still talk. Point is, its a lot easier at most other places and transfer talk at Tech is not all that uncommon, especially when another major change is introduced. At least this was my experience 25 years ago.

I'm sure PJ understands all of this and I am not worried. I imagine that his first meeting with the team was an eye opener for some. I hope so.

Initial reactions are always harsh. Paul Johnson will be meeting with every Georgia Tech player individually over the next few days and discuss the future. A lot will change after that.

These young men need to think WVA, Illinois style offense....not Navy. They are the same base offense except Paul has had to keep his QB under center at Navy instead of in the shotgun because of necessity. Actually Florida does the same thing. Who knows exactly what will happen except Paul Johnson...but he will do what it takes to win from what I would think...run or pass.

Regarding transfer, you still have to sit out a year unless you go to a lower division as someone said above. That means no bowl games, no BCS, etc. You could go to Furman, GaSouthern, Valdosta State, etc. without sitting out regardless as to whether or not there is a coaching change.

Also, there is one player that has planned on transfering all year long, and the coaches were aware. He was a back-up, but played. It will be interesting to see if he changes his mind and stays now.

really bad. from my man albert rocker there are alot of people talking of transferring from tech. they include babay thomas n dj donley (who he says are most likely to transfer) n some others. he said colin peek was goin to florida. this would make sense because a new coach, alot of confusion, some may not like the way johnson coaches, some may not like his assistants. but if a team fires their head coach, a player can transfer without having to sit a year. He said that is all the freshmen talk about is how they have it at tech. In no way am i saying that all of this is true, in fact i think he is exaggerating on some of it but still it is scary to think of all of this happening. :ugh:

Does Rocker know you'll spilling your guts on the message board w/ specific players names & linking them to transfering rumors? Just Curious...:ugh:
I say we wait & see how it all plays out....I doubt most of them transfer....more like the fall out of being in a tough academic environment, being w/o a head coach, rumors of coaching staff leaving, & the fall out of their own relationships with the coaches that recruited them...overall it would be highly emotional

Me thinks your info is wrong. For one they have to sit out a year so they or you might want to know the rules before contemplating transferring. Also, we won't let them transfer to an ACC school or Ugag so unless they are all excited about transferring to say AUB or GSU, they'll sit out two years.

Anyway, I think this is mostly a non-issue and your info is weak.

I've been thinking that their are probably more than one or two that aren't going to fit in CPH's overall plan for our future anyway. Let's face it, it ain't fixin to get any easier at Tech. If they're on the bubble they need to go now. Tech academics, smash-mouth football and grueling practice sessions (at least compared to CCG) might be a daunting contrast to what some of these guys had envisioned their time at Tech would be like.

OK.

These are young guys, I'm not surprised of the initial reaction. Some are probably going to loose some assistant coaches they have good relationships with, with unknown people coming in. These guys should settled down, enjoy the bowl game, and evaluate their personal situation after the first of the year. For most of them leaving will be a big mistake; for a few (if any) it may the best decision for both parties. What you fear is one hot head leaving; being vocal about it, and encouraging others to leave too.

As for this committment jazz, are you serious? This is 2007 not 1950, a man's word is as good as the loopholes in his contract. And even if you have an iron clad contract, you can sit out and have it renegotiated.

If this is true then what this tells me that Gailey was running a looser ship than I thought.

Young kids today are so soft and not disciplined. That is too bad if they leave. I for one if were on the team and they wanted to leave I personally would help them pack. You don't want to be here? Fine lets get you out of here.

I can't wait for PJ to bring the discipline back. We need these boys to grow some nads and start playing big boy football.

Im starting to get a feel that Tenuta is staying on as DC.
This would help matters.

I'd love to believe this - what specifically makes you think so?

Geez i think CPJ's offense + CJT's defense would make for a formidable team.

This is NOT insider info. by no means, I had insider info. last week, when I broke to you that PJ was going to be the next coach (Or at least we had offered it to him) and that our 2nd offer late was 1.8 million.

But, this is only a hunch on Tenuta. I've been keeping up with these developments the last 2 days and at the very least there is a GOOD chance that PJ does not bring his Defensive staff here from Navy (What a relief, they were terrible on defense) The Navy Blog guy (Who has proven to be pretty reliable) is pointing to PJ bringing most of his offensive assts. to GT but leaving the defensive staff at Navy.

So, this gives us hope that PJ and Tenuta will work it out. PJ also is best friends with Tenuta's ole college roomate and buddie. This is all a hunch, but our odd's seem to be getting better. :fingersx:
